Series you've recently watched, are now watching or have given up on

Thanks for mentioning this. So far I like it - first episode was very intense!

Chief Surgeon, I need that unlicensed doc like I need a hole drilled in in my head

I watched season 1 before NBC picked up the show. Watched most of season 2.

I really enjoyed that series - it actually managed a couple of clever twists and it’s definitely intended to be more upbeat than Black Mirror. I totally didn’t see the end of the Patton Oswalt one coming.

My husband and I really liked the Bosch series. We also watched Bosh:Legacy, also very good. Ballard is a Bosch spinoff. Another great series. You have a lot of good watching ahead of you!

Yeah, I loved the show and am a habitual reviewer, but I just can’t with BB. It’s too depressing and with not enough moments of levity to give me a fresh take years later. It’ll be, ‘yup, impending divorce sucks.’

I plan to read the books. Hopefully they’ll add details the tv show omitted. I’ve already read other books by Michael Connelly.

I’m looking forward to months of great tv.

As is the usual case, the books are better than the TV series, although the Bosch series did a fine job of following the books.

The Lincoln Lawyer series doesn’t do quite as good of a job as following the books, but still did okay.

Connelly is one of my favorite authors.

We finally got around to watching season eight, and we quite liked it. Seeing Tosh even further featured was great.

Really, my only complaint was DI Calder running roughshod over everything, particularly where she had personal involvement. I don’t know how it works in Shetland, but in the US that would get half the evidence and interviews thrown out.

Winding down to the last two episodes of The Expanse on Prime. Best SciFi series ever….too bad Amazon stuffed up the rights so the three original Seasons n/a and the book rights screwed so can’t even listen on Audible to the 9 book series I already bought. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

Reading the nine orgin novels now. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :kangaroo:

I agree. The Expanse is easily the greatest sci-fi series (and in the running for the best series) ever. However, I believe you are confused about the availability of seasons 1 thru 3. I do recall there was a rumor a while ago that seasons 1 and 3 were leaving prime due to a rights issue (those 3 seasons having aired originally on the SyFy network before Amazon acquired the rights).

Nevertheless, whatever the particular status of the rights may be, seasons 1 thru 3 are still very much available on prime (at least from where I sit in the US—if it’s different in your country, you have my deepest sympathies).

Yeah not available on Prime Australia for the first three seasons :face_with_symbols_on_mouth: ….clearly a similar snafu that affects my Audible Books. Fortunately had another source for the first three seasons and have them arriving on Blu Ray shortly for $43 Aus which is a very good deal for the entire series.

The HDR10 on the Prime feed makes it outstanding on a modern big TV even if not 4k.

Enjoying the books which both add detail to the TV series and extend the story.

Only Blade Runner 1984 gets close and that’s a very limited time period.

Just watched the final episode of The Expanse TV series which was six seasons and just starting the books which go well beyond where the TV series finishes.

There is soooo much more that could be extended to futureTV series even beyond the books…..someone needs to take up the torch…..Apple??

I thought Foundation was a brave attempt but The Expanse has far greater potential and the first six seasons are flat out the best ever. What a great base to move on from. :sparkler:

Peacemaker 2022 John Cena

I’m reluctant to admit watching. It’s a very weird story. The hero is a dick. The script makes that clear. He still generates sympathy and other characters want to help him.

It gets better after the 3rd episode. There are only 8 in a season. It’s not a big commitment to watch.

Imdb says ita spin off from The Suicide Squad 2021. I never heard of it.

I’ll plan to watch both seasons of Peacemaker. I like the Eagle.

The Paper (Peacock), the spinoff from The Office. I’ve only seen the 1st episode (I want to parcel it out slowly) but it was brilliant. And a rather sad commentary on the state of journalism.

I’ve been watching A Place to Call Home, an Australian series (2013-18) on Prime. It’s kind of Downton Abbey-ish but taking place in the early 1950s. I love it!

that is good to read, i’ve been hearing about it from “office ladies”podcast. i’ll give it a try.

i finished “new tricks”, the original group did have great chemistry. i did enjoy nicholas lyndhurst’s character in the later seasons.

i’m on to “franklin and bash” from netflix. i do enjoy quirky law shows. i’m still a bit bummed that “so help me todd” was cancelled. i was hoping someone else would pick it up.

Yes, the hero is a dick. But Season 1 explains why. I haven’t started the second season yet, but I will.

I also really liked the The Suicide Squad (certainly much more than the previous Suicide Squad film - seriously, how do you make a film worse by including the Joker?), but I am aware that it is designed to appeal to a certain sensibility that some may not have.

The Suicide Squad is still on Max. I’ll give it a try. Maybe understand Peacemaker better.

John Cena is a surprise. His acting range is better than I expected.

I watched Epi 1 of Task on Max last night. Interesting premise in which a pair of cash-strapped sanitation workers search through trash of likely residences, hoping to find a drug house where they can steal the cash in a nighttime armed robbery. There needs to be some backstory explanations, but I think it might be pretty good, albeit quite violent.

Three episodes into the second season, and I think it holds up pretty well. Tim Meadows is killing it in a supporting role because he suffers from Bird Blindness. “We were attacked by a super-powered duck!” “It’s an eagle!” “You told me it was a duck!”

Cena is still knocking it out of the park.
