Wrong thread, Ned.
(I had it moved!)
Vic the Dick! He was a great character, and so different from Mando.
And I can’t think of his character without remembering what happened to him. At the time, it was such a surprise, I nearly choked myself by gasping and laughing at the same time.
OMG Peacemaker.
The other shoe just dropped.
Apparently some people saw it coming, and I knew something was coming, but not specifically what.
Let’s just say it’s a story for our times.
Just started Season 2 of the English Teacher on Hulu, hilarious as usual, this time in defense of the right of young people to make bad art. It was a bit jarring seeing teenagers dismiss the AIDS crisis as ancient history, though.
One thing I enjoy about The English Teacher is that the students are generally portrayed as dumbasses. Not that I don’t think the teachers don’t care about the kids, but the show makes no effort to endear them to your heart. They just remind you of what an idiot you were in high school.
It’s been long enough since I last watched it that I remember very little about the show, but I’m about halfway through the first season and I assume you’re talking about what Helena (the crazy blonde one) did to him.
Wait, I’m thinking of Olivier, are you thinking of Olivier? Dr Leekie is the one that kinda looks like Malcolm McDowell. Olivier is the one that kinda looks like a rat.
Finished “Wayward”. It was. . .stupid.
Then I’m glad I stopped 5 minutes in.
We just started watching season 2 as well and it’s a fun show. Everyone is funny but it all feels so plausible. Marquez, the main character, isn’t infallible either. He makes mistakes. Enrico Colantoni is great as the principal as well.
My wife and I just finished Black Rabbit. A crime thriller starring Jason Bateman and Jude Law. It’s a very interesting study about two brothers - Law is a successful restaurant owner in NY and Bateman is a burned-out user who comes back to town. The story gets deeper into their relationship and we get to see how they both got where they are. Bateman is incredible as this guy who’s not very nice, who takes and takes, and somehow people just put up with it. Law also does a great job as a successful restauranter looking to expand but then we start to see cracks along the way. Also Bateman owes some bad people a lot of money.
I watched the first episode and Bateman’s character says he doesn’t owe anyone any money, so you must be mistaken.
Whoops! Spoiler!
Task, Episode 4. Spoiler alert!
Yet another excellent episode, but one thing has me wondering.
The task force seized Ray Lyman’s phone and used it to set up the sting in the park with Cliff. But as the drama played out, it the Dark Hearts have the phone, and they used it to lure Cliff to the spot where they wrecked his car and grabbed him.
The obvious inference (to me, anyway) is that the phone was given to the bikers by a cop. Had to be Tom’s boss, the Chief, correct?
Also, if you used a gun to murder somebody a decade ago, why would you keep the weapon?
I was thinking of Dr. Leekie – Matt Frewer.
Malcom McDowell? Nah, not really.
We finished Adolescence. That was a bumpy ride, for sure, and not your typical series, especially for Americans who are used to certain memes and resolutions in their series. Extremely well done and tough to watch at times.
Alien: Earth (2025) Does even one clown on this Medical Ship know what a quarantine is and why it’s important to distance yourself from alien life? Season 1 was essentially a Weyland-Yutani training video for biological containment FUBARs.
I’m glad I watched it, it was a wild ride, but the ending was weak and I feel they’ve written themselves into a corner so not sure how much further they can take it.
Wait, is this Ozark?
Three years later this has hit Netflix and heads are exploding.
(Wait, it was always on Netflix, it is just that MAGA has only now noticed it.)
Heh, we watched ep.1 last night, and I wondered the same thing-- whether it was maybe a ‘Wayward Pines’ prequel or something.
Well, crap. We’ll probably keep watching anyway. Seems intruiging enough after ep.1. Will dial down expectations accordingly.
I finished the series today. I wouldn’t classify it as stupid myself, but the ending left something to be desired. It came across as one of those “we really don’t know how to wrap all of this up, so here’s the best we could do” endings. But your results may vary.
I finished watching this. It was cute enough, although it was a bit jarring that it took place during such a violent time. Maybe they can do an American remake where an Italian-American goes back in time to the reign of Caligula and she wins his heart with Tex-Mex cooking.
The second episode of season 3 of Alice in Borderland was great. the games are definitely more complex than in previous seasons. I would have totally died by now.
