Marshals. A spin off from Yellowstone. REALLY bad.

Technical issues- Yes, guys the US Marshals service is allowed and has jurisdiction on Reservations- not so State police, County Sheriffs and local police, unless there was a treaty.

And the lead Marshal- a dickweed that always wears his baseball cap backwards even in the Montana Sun- asked Dutton “do you have a permit for that?” about his holstered handgun- Yes, dickless, in Montana you dont need permits for open or concealed carry. There are more.

Of course- Dutton is an ex-Navy Seal, Montana being known for it’s scuba skills. Why Seals fergawdssake? Green Berets, Rangers, Marine Recon- sure. And dickweed is -of course- his old buddy from the Seals (which is not a short term thing, they want career sailors in that), and deputizes him shortly. BS.

Of course Dutton has lost his wife under sad circumstances.

Of course there is all the standard talk about the Holy of Holies- THE RANCH.

Possibly because it turns out the woman who played that role in the original series was… well, let’s just say her Native American ancestry has been “disputed” (and her character was supposed to be Native American).

And the reason Kayce is a Navy SEAL is… because that was his backstory in the original series as well? I know plenty of Navy types from landlocked states or, failing that, landlocked areas of states (eg: west Texas is as landlocked as New Mexico, Oklahoma, or Montana, but of course Texas has a substantial coastline… 800 or so miles away).

Eh… not that long. The Navy allows people to enlist with a BUD/S contract. We’re talking a standard 4-8 year enlistment contract.

They do. But then if you want to go into an alite unit (80% washout rate here) with the extra long and expensive training, they want more. Most Seals stay in for the whole 20 years.

Not according to series write ups. The Duttons are Sadistic, murderous assholes, and how anyone raised that way could possibly pass the rigorous psych profile they get is a big stretch. I watched two epi of 1923, and it led with them torturing and murdering 4 innocent sheepherders- and getting away with it- legally anyway. And stealing their sheep.

Note that Yellowstone ends in 2023, with Kayce-

So in 2-3 years, Dutton finished his Navy Enlistment, Seals training and seals deployment?

At the beginning of Yellowstone he had completed his enlistment and been home for years. Luke Grimes is 42 years old. He could have enlisted shortly after 911.

I was actually surprised she survived to the end of the original series because of that reason.

I really don’t understand why they gave the most boring character on Yellowstone his own spin-off. The only plus is the annoying wife didn’t survive but I fast-forwarded through a lot of his story also.

I have chosen to reply to you in another thread. Happy to continue the conversation in the new thread.

We just finished S3, and I liked it more than S2. There were lots of interesting characters in this one.

All right, that wasnt clear from the synopsis. Sorry, I didnt watch the actual show- the Duttons were killing too many people- 100 or so over the entire series and Kayce himself at least 5, maybe 10.

In any case, the reviews arent good. Some are okay, but the average is below 50%- the Popcornometer is not good.

Oh, and-

I’m not quite done with the season but I agree. Better characters and better pacing.

Honestly I preferred the now cancelled The Recruit (a little more dramedy than drama) by a fair bit. Both are flawed shows, but the The Recruit easily has a better supporting cast (Kristian Bruun, a little more prominent in season 2, can do no wrong) and even the lead in The Night Agent is rather more annoying to me.

I keep forgetting that Gabriel Basso (The Night Agent’s lead) is the tall, dorky kid in Super 8.

I was watching How the States Got Their Shapes, but it’s devolved into too much politics. I want topography, dammit!

Oh they’re monsters alright. Kaycee is the least morally reprehensible of them, in my opinion, but that’s not saying much!

I felt the same. If you are interested in geographic features all over the globe, I adore FactSpark on YouTube.

Yeah, that looks like a winner; thanks.

I just finished an older series, Girls 5EVA, starring Sara Bareilles, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Busy Phillips, and Paula Pell. I loved it, despite how silly it was.

We watched a bunch of Girls 5Eva when it was mrs. dirtball’s turn to pick what we would be watching for the evening. I thought it was entertaining. We left off somewhere in the middle and haven’t been back to it in a while, but I’m not sure whether that’s because of an actual loss of interest or other shows becoming a higher priority.

She’s been pretty heavy on Mom lately, which I’m totally fine with. Very good show, and Anna Faris is a treasure. Great chemistry with Allison Janney.

The Long Call on Britbox. Another atmospheric murder mystery. Not sure I can stay awake through another episode.

I’ve been watching season 2 of Artful Dodger on Disney+, with David Thewlis, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and a bunch of Australian actors, and it’s even better than season 1. Everyone in the cast seems to be having a grand old time. Definitely recommended.
