Paradise S2 - watching. A few eps in. And I like the feel of it but we really have characters being really very stupid. Not as much fun as S1.
For some reason fans of that show kept mentioning it during our threads on Downton Abbey.
I did too. I just stumbled across S2, and I’m enjoying that one so far as well.
I thought S2 was still pretty strong. S3 had too long between seasons, though I understand they wanted the actor playing Ryan to grow up more, which did work for the story. It wasn’t as good as the other two seasons but it was still better than a lot of tv out there.
Someone recommended Broad City to me. I’ve seen two episodes. I might hang in for a couple more, but unless the two main characters tone down the perennial slacker/stoner vibe I might not last the whole season.
We just finished Hijack season 2.
Season 1 was OK, although it didn’t make a lot of sense, and was pretty unbelievable.
But, season two was completely off the rails. Watchable, but don’t expect any kind of coherent plot, or writing that makes any sense. I’d give it a C-.

I’d agree with that entirely.
I watched it when it was on, but IIRC, it’s one of those shows that if you can’t get into it after a few episodes, you’re better off cutting your losses and giving up. Again, IIRC, the general tone of the show doesn’t change much. Maybe go on youtube and watch some random clip videos. There’s been some shows over the years where I like the youtube clips, but aren’t interested in watching entire episodes.
In any case, I’ve always wondered if Period Pants would actually work.
While waiting for episodes to drop for other shows, we thought we would revisit Silent Witness on Britbox, now airing it’s 28th season (!). They’ve apparently tried to inject “atmosphere” into plots that are fairly convoluted, in an attempt to make them more interesting, but it really just muddles things. They’ve also introduced a couple of new characters that don’t really work, and WTH is with the vague endings and people being interrogated in blackout rooms? Not recommended.
Abbi has a bit of a character arc over the series, but Ilana is pretty much the same.
I thought the episode “Hurricane Wanda” from season 1 was pretty funny.
Yeah, I’ve seen very episode and can safely say the show is not for you ![]()
I guess you can call it a series if it’s got four episodes, so I started watching the Dinosaurs on Netflix.
Being produced by Spielberg makes for excellent CGI and an unavoidable level of disneyfication. Acceptable, but the script could be much improved.
What is hard to stand is Morgan Freeman’s voice. Sounds like god impersonating or mocking Attenborough and failing. The next episode I will watch in either German or Spanish. Perhaps even South American Spanish, that can be funny. The English version is emetic.
Agents of Mystery
Recommended.
Think of this as an elaborate series of Escape Rooms with a fun series of plots thrown in just to keep things really fun. It’s a Korean show, but even though it is not scripted, English Dub is available.
They have 6 minor Korean celebrities come together as a team. They are sent on missions that end up being story-driven and puzzle-filled assignments. They have sets and a whole story setup for them.
It’s really fun. All the people in the show have fun personalities and keep the whole thing really light, but also engaging.
Season 2 just dropped and my wife and I watched it as well. Season 2 was a slight step down in puzzles and sets, but was still a lot of fun.
Check it out.
This is apparently on Netflix for those interested.
Which includes me.
And for whom this post is a reminder to me to look for it on Netflix, the next time the wife asks what I want to watch.
i watched this on sunday. very pretty, and yes, i did feel sad for some of the dinos. the male that got eaten because he was too busy “displaying” for the female… constant vigilance!! was not a dino catch phrase.
It’s a great show for just having a fun time watching with others. My wife and I really love it.
The Devil’s Plan is another korean reality show, but is much more taxing to watch. It’s a puzzle heavy show with games that take 20 minutes or more for the show to explain.
I am in complete agreement.
Marshals
As much as Taylor Sheridan repulses me, I constantly find myself compelled to watch his shows. I really enjoyed Yellowstone up until Costner quit. This sequel might just be what breaks me of this embarrassing habit. 2 episodes in and I feel like I’ve only seen a trailer. As much as I like Luke Grimes, this show seriously sucks. I’ll probably end up watching the rest of it, just because I’m all out of interesting content, but I doubt I’ll enjoy it.
RE: Dinosaurs
I was looking forward to this series but his droning, one-note delivery put both my wife and I to sleep. It’s a real mismatch with the subject matter and the visuals, which are stunning.
S2 is a bit of a different vibe than S1. S1 was all about gradually revealing the world and the main characters. S2 seems more like a spinoff, and I kind of really like it, but for different reasons. I hated Annie, and I’m glad she died. I love the new characters introduced in The Mailman. I find myself really looking forward to the next episode, and I really haven’t felt that way about a show since the early seasons of Lost.
