Series you've recently watched, are now watching or have given up on

We watched the first two seasons(parts) of Money Heist on Netflix.

Meh.

It wasn’t great. An elaborate heist that involved printing their own money from the national mint. It had a lot of fundamental issues with the heist.

We were moderately entertained.

There are three more parts, but the heist and main story ended at the end of Part 2 so we are stopping.

Skip it? It’s harmless.

The answer is no, eventually, but it takes her a while to get there.

Say Nothing (Hulu) - Follows the true story of two sisters exploits during The Troubles in Northern Ireland from the 70’s to around the 90’s and their relation to Jerry Adams as currently sitting MP who denies ever being an IRA member much less a leader of some heinous acts.

It was alright. If the time and events interest you it’s alright, but if not you can all safely pass for better fare.

Yeah, we bailed I think halfway through season 2. As you say, it got too ludicrously convoluted to take seriously after a certain point.

As I mentioned upthread, we watched season 1 of ‘Billionaire’s Bunker’ by the makers of ‘Money Heist’, which has been cancelled, so no more seasons. It makes the plot of ‘Money Heist’ look like a simple walk in the park by comparison.

We watched all the seasons of Money Heist. Sure, it’s a melodramatic eye-roller that seems as if the writers are just making up the story as they film it. The character arcs are ridiculously sudden and erratic, and the long sojourns into flashbacks are just a way to keep the characters they kill off still around.

It’s all fun, though, and unabashedly celebrates revolution, anarchy, and diversity in ways that would make some people’s heads explode. For those curious about how the series continues after the end of the first heist, it’s really not a spoiler to say the next target is the national mint.

One being that coins are minted by the Mint, banknotes are printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing?

This is different than the original heist?

No. It’s the Royal Mint of Spain. And they print paper money.

I do think you are mixing up. They robbed the national mint in the first 2 parts.

I’m not worried. Based on how Season 1 ended, it seems like the writers know where it’s going.

I’ve only watched the very first episode, so I’m assuming from this we don’t find out what happened to the brother in the first season?

Any answer to this would be a spoiler.

O.k. understood.

No, the first two seasons were at the place they print paper money. The other seasons take place where they keep the gold and make coinage (technically, a mint, but closer to the Spanish version of Ft. Knox).

I’m up to episode 5 of Banshee on HBO. Lots of simulated sex and actual nudity. Basic plot: a criminal gets out of prison, goes to find his former girlfriend and ends up the town sheriff. Lots of violence and did I mention lots of sex?

Finshed The Miniature Wife 2026 yesterday. There are 10 episodes.

It is based on the 2013 short story by Manuel Gonzalez. I don’t expect a 2nd season. It seems like the characters stories concluded.

The series has some high points. There were just enough to keep me watching. I found the dysfunctional marriage sub-plot tiresome. It’s a major point in every episode.

I’d mildly recommend it. The miniature special effects are fun.

We just finished Blue Murder, a British crime drama set in Manchester, England, 2003-2009. (Amazon Prime, 19 episodes)

We thought it was very good. Good writing, good acting. There was some personal drama, which I don’t care for, especially bratty kids, but it wasn’t enough to put us off watching.

Recommended.

Finished season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. enjoyable if you like monster movies. The biggest mystery left unanswered is how Anders Holm turned into Skull Island’s John Goodman in less than 10 years.

Does Blue Murder focus on a single crime each season? Or the same crime/criminal throughout five seasons?

I binged Man on Fire on Netflix over the weekend and loved it. Apart from the source material it has little to do with either the Denzel Washington movie or the Scott Glenn movie. 7 episodes, so an easy binge and both the writing and the casting are outstanding. Two thumbs up.
