…and we call it OBAMACARE!!!
DEATH PANEL CAMPS!
Dirty fucking socialist healthcare. IT’S A TRAP.
Get you paws off my children, you damned dirty adopters!
This thread is amazing, just, amazing.
Oh, wait - I’ve been getting this all wrong! I thought we were supposed to kill the mothers to prevent the child support claims and killing the babies to stop them from being turned into serial murderers! Or..no, wait - maybe that’s to keep them from being killed in the wars? Or is it only the adopted babies who get killed in the wars? No, wait, that’s not right either, what am I thinking? Aren’t we supposed to abort ALL the babies so the adopted ones can’t be turned into serial killers and the biological ones can’t be killed in war? And - bonus points! - women will be liberated from tyranny!
Not quite sure I have it right yet - I’m getting a little confused…
Reading this thread has caused so many of my brain cells to implode under the stress, that I’m pretty sure my ‘remedial reading for comprehension’ class was a total waste.
Dammit. I had high hopes for that…
Has anyone seen that new documentary on that adopted serial killer on Showtime?
Two and a Half Men?
Well played, sir, well played.
(Yeah, I know you’re a lady. )
I’m no fuckin’ lady
That’s interesting, because some Roma offered to buy my 11 year old brother from my dad after a soccer game. Is it not adopting if you purchase them outright?
It depends on whether or not they tried to gyp you.
See what happens when you don’t listen, Miller? If only you’d closed this thread when I asked.
And your dad didn’t sell him before he became a teenage and lost all market value?
I suspect that if you are not joking about the incident the Roma in question where. Roma do sometimes send or give their kids to other Roma to be raised because of economics or family needs (ex. someone has no children, but wants some, their siblings have more kids than they wcan handle, so the send younger sons and daughters to live with their childless aunt and uncle) , but it would be very unusual for them to be interested in a stranger’s kid. The difference between adoption is there is no lying about the family relationships. Children are not raised to call anyone other than their actual mother or father, mother or father.
The problem is you use an artificially narrow definition of Mother and Father.
True, but in a more global sense, her problem is that she thinks that the Roma way is the only acceptable way. I mean, fine, her culture handles adoption in a much different way than we do. For all I know, given their cultural traditions and mores, it works very well for all involved. And we don’t entirely reject the notion. For instance, I have a friend whose son was raised by his grandparents. He still called his biological parents “mom” and “dad” and the people who raised him “grandma” and “grandpa.” There’s no reason why that can’t be appropriate in some situations, and our type of traditional closed adoptions appropriate in other situations. ZPG Zealot has a myopic, provincial, closed-minded POV on this and many other subjects, and therefore it’s not really worthwhile to argue with her about it. Except for sheer entertainment value, of course.
Absolutely. It’s taking specific situations and overly globalizing them to everybody that is the problem.
Part of why she’s against adoption is she can’t tell which are illegitimate children and she doesn’t want to mistakenly touch hands with them. How can she shun them if she can’t identify them? When they call someone else Mom and Dad she cannot tell who is worthy.
Is that the new term for “batshit crazy?”
