Seth: Drop "American Dad"!

Yeah, hence my earlier comment about mailing Seth poop if that damn chicken pops up again. It was funny once, the first time they did that style joke. FFS, you think John Cage wrote a whole freaking orchestra based on that concept? What would it be called, 3h4’33"?

How dare you!!! He’s totally based on Paul Lynde, the greatest center square ever on the Hollywood Squares. I agree that Patrick Stewart is the best semi-regular character on the show but Roger is easily my favorite out of the main ones.

Actually, one aspect of the “cool wHip” bit that occurred to me is I seem to recall the first time it was done, it was Brian asking Stewie, along the lines of:

Brian: Say “cool”.
Stewie: Cool.
Brian: Now say “whip”.
Stewie: Whip.
Brian: Now say “Cool Whip”.
Stewie: Cool wHip.
Brian: Say “wh”.
Stewie: Wh.
Brian: Say “ip”.
Stewie: Ip.
Brian: Now say “whip”.
Stewie: Whip.
Brian: Now say Cool Whip.
Stewie: Cool wHip.

MacFarlane does both voices, and the bit is essentially stolen from innumerable gags where a ventriloquist has a rapid back-and-forth with his dummy, trying to correct the dummy’s pronunciation. In that sense, it was mildly clever the first time it was done (though somewhat blunted by the availability of modern audio editing, while the real challenge is to do the bit before a live audience) but not afterward, and definitely not when someone other than MacFarlane is voicing the non-Stewie character, as happened in the ST:TNG cast episode.

I LOVE the episode where they pretend to be a couple (Stan’s out of town) and have dinner guests over and it turns all Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf-y.

Roger, polishing glasses: “Why don’t you tell them about how you killed our baby?”

Yes! I loved that one too. I also love how Stan told Roger someone was coming over and he had to put on a disguise so Roger consulted his costume index and pulled out the appropriate one; what a system that man… I mean alien has.

Heh. Captain, your post is exactly something Stan would say. In my head, it even sounded like Stan as I read it.

The Cleveland Show is still on?

And what’s with the talking animals in all of Seth’s shows? I guess it’s supposed to be funny, but I don’t understand why.

Yeah, Family Guy is pretty much over in my book. I absolutely cannot stand the cutaways every five seconds that go on way, way, way too long. As soon as Peter says “Dat reminds me a da time…” I dive for the remote and change the channel.

I don’t mind the cutaways–when they are actually satirical jabs at something, rather than just stupidity.

And I stopped watching American Dad in the first half of first season. I assume you guys are saying I should check it out again.

There’s a subtle inside joke in that episode. The character Francine plays is named “Amanda Lane”, after the mother of Jane Lane from Daria, on which American Dad producer Dan Vebber used to work.

Scotch Bingeington. Greatest pseudonym ever.

I believe Patrick Stewart’s best line so far is “Lois, my post-sex pee stream forked in half and got everywhere.”

I can give it up anytime I like.

Honestly!
