I believe you, Frosty Camel. Drunks kill people every day and it barely makes the third page of the newspaper. Your pain must be very intense and having people doubting you must make it so much worse.
About a year ago, in central AZ, someone got on the main road (highway 69), going in the wrong direction in the fast lane. People died. We did a charity event for the survivors. My challenge for those who doubt Frosty’s word because they couldn’t find anything online…please find the reports about that accident and the charity event. I can, but I know the details.
As to Sevencl…am I the only one who is noticing that there are 2 different pit threads that have people freaking out about online stalking and privacy issues?
I’m on my phone so I can’t dig it up, but when he first posted his story it had supposedly happened just the night before, or within a couple of days. This made it more suspicious as it should have been pretty routine to find a story matching his description given the narrow timeframe.
Frosty started posting after his family and friends had left. He was alone in his house and I am sure lonely in a way few of us could know. He did have the misfortune to come here just after the Umkay/Notokay debacle and he was pounced on. I have paid attention to him ever since because I felt he got a very raw reception here. I have no reason to disbelieve him so I do believe him. Check out the thread on his boat, its a beautiful boat and fits in with everything else he has said. He seems like a nice guy who has gone through a world of hurt, its no skin off my back if he is a troll, it is just a message board.

P.S. Just try to put yourself in his shoes for a minute and reread your posts
Some discussion over the veracity of his story inthis ATMB threadwhere Frosty Camel tried to have his account deleted.
A curious thread in ATMB where **Frosty Camel **wonders why the library he uses is on the SDMB IP Ban list which ends on a slightly tantalizing note from **Samclem **where he says he’s working on fixing the issue but “found out more.”
An ominous post by Enkelin a pre-crash thread where FC had posted a photo of an enormous moth that he’d taken a photo of… This post was on 6/15 and the crash thread was posted on 6/23. So if the crash actually happened, and had happened a week earlier… that would be right around 6/15-16.
I looked at your links and didn’t find anything that makes me doubt his story. I’m a big library user, sometimes I use a public comp to check my stuff while I’m at lunch. Back when Monty banned us all…I got the notice that I was banned at a library comp.
Seriously, why are you doing this? If Frosty is telling the truth, he’s in pain and probably not totally coherent. If he’s trolling, hes doing a very bad job of it.
I choose to believe that Frosty is in a lot of pain, and I hope that he will find a way to sleep without hurting.
So…now you have a date to search. That’s good. Do you know what state, or road or newspaper it was mentioned?
I could probably find all this stuff, its public record after all. I have no interest or motivation to do it.
Did you find the links to the accident I mentioned? There is a pic of us, on page 4 or something. I’m the one with the boobs.
I think it was the timing – he was a fairly new poster, and this came right after the whole thing with umkay. That’s what made people a little :dubious:. It’s nothing personal against him. Bad timing.
Honestly, I thought that umkay was not real from the start. I read the threads, but never bothered to post. DNFTT, and all that.
I do think that** Frosty** is real. My heart hurts for him. When Bill’s wife died, he was not rational for a very long time.
I got hit by a distracted driver a couple of months ago. There was nothing in the paper, nothing online about it until I came here to rant.
This sort of stuff isn’t newsworthy. Its so common that nobody writes it up in the local newspaper.
4 people dead and nobody running around and shooting or blowing stuff up. Who would notice? I’m serious…who would notice such mundane deaths when people are shooting up schools.
Frosty, I do think that your loss is terrible. I’m sorry that people are doing this to you.
I hope that you will be able to find some peace. Sends cyber hugs your way.
Glancing at the original thread Post #18 reveals Sevencl’s problem - the revelation of personal information. In this same post Sevencl reveals a fair amount of information, personal information, about him/herself.
It is not unreasonable in the least for anyone who has lost loved ones to research the culprit. It’s interesting that Frosty Camel would take the position against the offender registry, but that is his opinion and it is a reasoned one.
To threadjack the discussion with the opinion Sevencl posits is narcissistic - “Privacy is a massive berserk button for me” imposes the experience he/she has dealt with, not Frosty Camel or his op.
A suggestion: privacy is difficult to maintain under most circumstances. Breaking the law is a bad way to stay private. If one wishes to remain private, moderate one’s behavior and stay out of the limelight.
And if you want to keep your life out of a public spotlight, try not to write posts that describe significant details of one’s life. It won’t help.
And it’s that which catches me wrong. In one breath to read about privacy being a hotbutton issue, and the next reading significant details about that same person’s life brings me to believe this poster really isn’t all that swift.
Just how many ambulance chasers are there in Arizona? The whole first page of hits I get on a few combinations is for those scumbags except for a wikipedia link and some traffic laws (which aren’t even necessarily for Arizona: go away, CA!)
It could be that the ban was requested by the poster. I understand that’s allowed.
In that case it wouldn’t be our business.
And if you check the ATMB thread, in the link provided, there’s a reminder from the FAQ not to publicly ask questions about banning, as also saying that if there ARE question email a mod. So maybe they will tell, just not publicly.
There is no “right to know” on a messageboard run and/or owned by someone else.
I thought it was too coincidental that frosty posted about the sex offender stuff right after another sex offender thread was posted. And then wouldn’t come back to even say what state it was in. His story seemed pretty screwy.
SevenCl is a perfectly built Troll creation. He is systematically pushing every Doper button. I am flabbergasted when I see people falling for it. I’m just waiting for his, “Ask the transperson with a declawed Pitbull” thread.
If it’s a long-time poster banned for multiple episodes of misbehaviour, they’ll usually post something in ATMB with a brief explanation and links. They’ll do that for supensions, too.
If it’s a sock, troll, or spammer, they’ll generally ban with no explanation. In the case of spammers, they’ll usually disappear the post, too, unless it’s particularly entertaining and other posters have been having fun playing with it.
In all cases, a PM to a mod will generally result in an explanation. Sometimes with details, sometimes not.
This. Not sure why it’s against the rules to talk about why he was banned, but the mods gave me an answer within minutes. To be honest, the answer was no surprise.
The theory is that, in the case of trolls and spammers, continued discussion about them in public only encourages them to do it again in a bid for more attention.
In the past, open discussions of why people were banned have gotten rather heated, with insulting things being said about the banned one. The mods feel that having these kind of punching-bag threads is unfair, because the banned person can’t post to defend themselves. Also, they’re trying to limit the media exposure for banned people because they have seen some returning banned people who wanted to go down in a blaze of glory, and they’re trying to deny them that thrill.
