For any of you SATC-obsessed dopers (like myself), do you have any inclinations as to how it will end? Will it be as predictable as they left it last night (Big will go to Paris, sweep Carrie off her feet, and she’ll end up with him), will she stay with Potrowski (yucko) or will we be left hanging? Any thoughts?
Damnit! I cried last night over this stupid show. When the girls were out for their last dinner, it was just too sad (perimenopause is a real joy, let me tell ya). Big was right…the girls are her first love, and men come in a lucky fourth.
I think she’s coming back to New York, and I hope she ends up with Big, but I’m not sure about that. She may end up single again…
Alex’s daughter was a real charmer, wasn’t she? That sullen little bitch. I think that ALONE would turn me off on building a life with him. Otherwise, he’s pretty hot. And a super nice guy. But it’s not her life.
We are definitely set up for Big sweeping her off her feet and returning her to New York. Cracks (distraction, bitchy daughter) appear in Petrovski’s armor, the chemistry between Carrie and Big is still evident in their ugly NY farewell, and the girlfriends actually give their stamp of approval. I don’t trust the set up, though. I want it to happen, but am not sure the writers would make it so pat. Even if she doesn’t come back to NY for Big, I believe she will for her life.
Yep, that’s what I think after last night. She thought she would LOVE Paris, but she doesn’t. Aleks isn’t there for her, he’s too busy with his work, his daughter is a bitch, she can’t speak French very well, she doesn’t know anyone, she lost her necklace… it just goes on and on.
I loved Miranda last night. “Go get our girl.”
She knows Carrie needs to come back; she could hear it in her voice when Carrie called her. She called from a pay phone on the street - she was so desperate to talk she couldn’t even wait till she got home!
Both my wife (Galena) and I are hoping that Big makes his “Big” entrance to Paris, and sweeps Carrie back with him to New York. (Not that Petrovsky is a bad guy… just not quite Carrie’s type)
Actually, Galena read in today’s the paper that 3 different possible endings have been filmed, and no one knows (save, one person) which will air. Doesn’t that just make things even worse!

Of course, I’d love to be able to see Big sweep her up and take her back to NY–and I’m pretty sure that’s what will happen. Then again, I have a huge ole crush on Chris Noth :D.
My husband was actually not pleased with Big’s return. “Just when she actually made a decision and wasn’t completely and totally neurotic…”
What I’d like to know is if anyone has any guesses for turns for the other girls? Does Charlotte get pregnant? What happens to Samantha?
Side note: Do men like Petrovsky actually exist?
Charlotte gets the news that they’ve found a Chinese baby for her and then finds out that she’s pregnant.
Smith proposes to Samantha and she accepts.
Miranda, well, nothing new happens to her. She’s my favorite character too.
Big shows up in Paris with a new Carrie necklace and melts Carrie’s heart. Petrofsky sees them together and gallantly lets her go when he realizes that they are meant to be. Big and Carrie go back to NY and meet the girls at the airport. Big proposes but Carrie decides to stay single for now.
BTW, I loved how Carrie’s lame ass little cute act failed to impress the Russian’s daughter. That may play in New York but it won’t work here in Paree.

Charlotte’s pregnant, not the baby.

I’m normally the first person to figure out “the big twist” in a movie or TV show, but for once, I’m almost completely clueless. I’m leaning toward: Big goes to Paris, which causes Carrie to realize she doesn’t love Petrovsky as much as she thought she did. She then returns to New York to be with her friends, but instead of winding up with Big on her arm, accepts that she enjoys life as a single gal and no guy can compare.
S&tC lost me as a viewer for a very long time, but I’ve been enjoying this season immensely.
Maybe Carrie could finally show a little something something. This is HBO dammit.
hajario, you are breaking my heart! I’m coming to Paris for the first time in April and I’m trying like crazy to learn a few French phrases just to be polite. Quick, tell me what she did wrong! I so don’t want to offend or be “the ugly American.”
Losing the Carrie necklace was the perfect symbol for losing herself. That relationship has to end. Big will bring her back, but I don’t think that she will commit to him. He doesn’t have much time to convince her – or us – that he has changed. (I’m a Chris Noth fan too, but I’ve gotten really pissed at Big.) I think her necklace will show up – maybe after she returns to NYC or at a special moment.
I always hoped that Aidan wasn’t really married and would give her just one more chance. I think he loved her best.
Charlotte will find her baby – maybe in an unusual way.
By the way, my oldest girlfriend lives three or four blocks away. We’ve been friends for 55 years.
It seems to me the girls in these final episodes have all been confronted with major changes, and have had to learn to accept the cards they’re dealt.
Miranda: moving out of the bustle of the city has been a major change of pace for her, but she’s learning to accept that being married and being a mother means she can’t stay a Manhattan socialite forever.
Samantha: she accepted that she had cancer and that she’s going to beat it. She also seems to have found real love with Smith; which is an enormous change of pace from her meaningless string of sexual partners.
Charlotte: she’s learning to accept that she’s probably not going to be a mother in the manner she has always felt to be the “traditional” way-- She still wants to be a mom, but she’s changing her game-plan.
Carrie: this is the big mystery. I say she decides to stay in France (her big change), but she breaks up with the Russian (and accepts that being single isn’t so bad), and starts a new Sex & the City column in Paris. Okay, that’s a stretch, but I’m sticking with it.

That is exactly what I think will happen, too.
True, but in an interview SJP said she won’t do nude.
I see the series wanting to finish on a high note, with an ending that will both tie up loose ends, but leave the future open for the protagonists; something that empowers the characters, with a sense of personal fulfilment and deep inner meaning–which will also resonate with the audience.
So my money’s on a big Pie Fight sequence.
Fear not, Zoe. That was a comment on Carrie and the daughter, not Americans and Parisians. I spent a week in Paris with my wife a few years ago and saw very, very little of the legendary French rudeness. Parisians can be bit stuck up in the same way the Manhattanites can. A few phrases of French will go a long way. They will appreciate that you’re trying.
You’re going to love it there. Despite what that little snot of a daughter said, the Eiffel Tower is way cool.

Carrie break up with Alexandr. Alexandr ends up with me. swoon
Not that I’m a fan or anything, but my fiance is, so I’ve seen more than my fair share of shows. Don’t forget, a movie is in the works.
Forgot to mention the most obvious plot point: when Carrie returns to NY, she won’t be able to get her column back so she’ll wind up writing a book.
I hope Carrie doesn’t end up with Big. Everything she said about him to the girls this episode is right – he’s been stringing her along for years, showing up only long enough to fuck up whatever relationship she’s in and then getting tired and lighting out. (Sometimes literally, sometimes not.) This is just more of the same – he likes her availability more than anything else.

Most importantly, will we get to learn Big’s real name?
