How is this thread any different from the “I Have a Crush” threads or the Appreciation thread? Hundreds of people don’t get mentioned in those either and I don’t recall them raising this much rancor.

Through it all, I was always the same person inside that I am right now. A smart, sensitive, sexy, honest, unassuming woman who is not ashamed to admit that she likes the attention.
Now you guys quit it cause I am now at a loss for words. A rare occurance indeed.

Because, as I’ve posted before, every woman in the world is sexy and beautiful in their own way. Especially the ones on this board. Some are sexy because of the way they express themselves. Others are sexy because of their looks. Still others are sexy because of the pictures or web site links they keep sending me which get me inordinately depressed. Others are sexy for their intelligence.
Each one has something different to offer, and to try to define one woman as the “sexiest” is like trying to locate the most beautiful place on earth.

I too normally move past these threads. I dislike the idea of hurting someone’s feelings by leaving them out inadvertantly or failing to live up to their expectations somehow.
Having said that today I’m breaking those rules to vote.

The fact that “no one has complained before” means that people should stay silent? I don’t think that’s a good rule on this board or any other.
Also, for some, there might be a qualitative difference (perhaps a fine one, but it’s there) between a “Who is the sexiest Doperchick” with a pageant label on it, and only about women, versus a more general appreciation thread or a crush thread.
But for the record, people HAVE spoken up on those other threads, too. Hamadryad, for one–she’s the one I can remember, there may have been others.
Is this really rancorous? I don’t think it is. Some of us just aren’t keen on this sort of thing. Based on your comment here and another one in a flirting thread, you’ve made it sound like we’re utterly hostile to flirting and recognition of physical attraction. I can assure you (at least from where I am!) that this isn’t true.
Anyone who is feeling left out of this thread, rest assured there were several people who were just about to name you, but then got scared off by crabapples like me. 
That’s not exactly what I meant. But there were a few comments in Hamadryad’s Pit thread that led me to the conclusion that there is a poster or two who feel that way. Neither you or Hama are among them but they’re there.
Like I said before, any admiration I get is not based on physical apprearance. There is only one person on this board has who has the vaguest idea under God what I look like because I don’t have actual photos on my hard drive to send. If someone thinks I’m sexy because of the posts I write, well damn it, I’m flattered and I’ll say so. If this makes me some one to be avoided by a few others, well, so be it.
Again, I’m not talking about you.

I’ve noticed that the one thing everybody seems to find most valuable on this board is the fact that everybody has an opinion.
On the surface, at least.
You see, I realized that you’re only entitiled to your opinion as long as it coincides with the most popularly held opinions here, or the opinions held by the most vocal minority (no names, but you know who you are…).
It’s cool to bash Christians and belittle their opinions and beliefs, as long as you criticize them for forcing their beliefs on you. It’s cool to bash the beliefs and opinions of Republicans, but only if you accuse them of forcing their beliefs on you. It’s ok to bash people who think it would be fun to yap in a pageant thread, because YOU construe their words as hurtful to you. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean you get to bash everybody else who does, no matter how many people agree with you. But the trick is that every time, you’re slamming somebody’s opinion or belief. If my opinion is that pageant/crush/admirer/whatever threads are fun, then butt out and let me enjoy it without hijacking the damn thing all the way to texas.
You take the fact that somebody feels the need to compliment certain people, and twist it around to mean that they are insulting everybody who they didn’t mention. This doesn’t have to be a big hugfest where we all sit around and kiss each other’s butts, it’s a few people who thought it’d be fun to talk about who they like. BFD!!! Well guess what–Maybe you’re not sexy. Not everybody is (comments by eutychus55 notwithstanding), and if you’re not, either change it or STFU. After all, if you don’t even think you’re sexy, why the heck do you attack somebody ELSE who agrees with you? Shockingly enough (haha), even I have never once been named as the object of a crush, been called a “sexy doper,” or anything else. But do I care? Of course not. But maybe that’s just because my sense of worth doesn’t hinge on whether a bunch of people I’ve never met think I’m sexy, and I don’t need constant injections of Self-Esteem from the message board to keep from crying.
My advice is for everybody to quit your bitching and griping, let whoever wants to talk about who’s sexiest, and if you don’t, feel free to start your own “PAGEANTS SUCK” thread.
BTW, the only dissenting opinion I even take seriously at this time is Hamadryad, because she’s the only one who doesn’t sound like she’s crying sour grapes for not being picked.
If this were the pit, I’d end with a really inappropriate statement, but since it’s not, I’ll just say Have a nice pageant.
I would have to cast my vote for Nocturne…easily the sexiest gal here.
