Shakespeare Mafia -- Act II

Because there was a vote train building on Mahaloth and Thing.Fish came in and swung it onto LH75, who is a town power.

There’s not only one reason to use a redirector. We had a lot of discussion of whether there is a vig or not (and we still don’t know). If scum has a redirector that may be the strongest or only power they have. They may have thought I was the vig (Biotop, Villain, was questioning me about why I was asking about the vig yesterday, and even though I told him I was not, no one would claim vig under those circumstances.

If Mahaloth is the scum redirector and Thing.Fish doesn’t have a power, it would make sense for him to redirect onto Thing.Fish if he thought I was a vig. Both DizzyMrsLizzy and I expressed reluctance to exile Mahaloth, so if Thing.Fish got killed, or investigated, Mahaloth was the one that plausibly would survive longer.

Okay, then please exile me first so you know I’m truthful. That’s a legitimate play, don’t let paranoia lose the game.

vote Mahaloth

vote Thing.Fish

vote AngeloftheNorth

(You’re going to say me voting myself is scummy now but y’all are so paranoid about me that I have no other way to prove I’m telling the truth.)

Mahaloth 3 (Thing.Fish 50, glee 54, AngeloftheNorth 63)
Thing Fish 2 (glee 54, AngeloftheNorth 63)
AngeloftheNorth 1 (AngeloftheNorth 63)

I honestly don’t think anyone is paranoid about you - but I think you’d probably agree that a healthy uncertainty is best. It’s not just the question of whether you’re Town or Scum - it’s the question of whether you’re correct or incorrect even if you are Town.

Are you willing to share the exact details of your power description and of the message you sent to the moderator and the message you received in return? I think it would help us to line up the possibilities.

What? Why would he want to redirect a vig onto his own teammate? If you think Mahaloth is the scum redirector and redirected on to me, that should be pretty strong evidence that I’m town.

Why would she do that as scum? At best, she convinces you all to dispatch me, but then when I flip town you’d just dispatch her. Scum can’t afford one-for-one trades, especially when they’re already down a teammate.

I think you’re right about Mahaloth probably being a scum redirector, because that seems like the likeliest explanation of how you got a false and incriminating read on my character name. But it’s still very possible that you were somehow interfered with by some other player of unknown alignment.

I am suspicious of AotN.

Very suspicious of Thing as well. The way Thing reacted to being called a scum is weird. Why vote Mahaloth? What’s the reasoning there. What power would give Mahaloth’s name to Thing?

In all of the games that we’ve played with AA over the years, has she ever outted herself as a Town Major power before on D1? Scum AotN could very well have tried to play that I’m a townie card a little too hard on D1 trying to be oh so helpful to take a target off of Pardel’s back. I was a bit shocked by her outting herself N1 with no real reasoning but a n00b Town Power that we don’t even know if it was a major power or more minor power might be a target last night?

Guess what…A doc could have protected Pardel just as easily last night, but then had to choose between Pardel and oh so trustworthy Angel. It just doesn’t seem pro-town.

And then to have a claim that’s wrong??? There’s “Something Fishy in Denmark” there Hamlet…

So what parts make you second guess what your role is? You said “I think” you know what your role is…

I’m trying to find where you are inno you here Angel.

Dead:
LH75 - Major Town - Banquo - Ghost that haunts living players in thread.
Pardel Lux - Major Town - Robin Goodfellow - Role Unknown. Maybe Bomb?
Biotop - Scum - Macbeth -

I believe Angel’s claim because I can’t see a reason for her to do it as Scum. Yet she’s claiming to have gotten a read on me that I know is wrong. Ergo, some other power interfered with hers in some way; unless that power claims, it may be reasonably assumed to be scum. As the only other person known to be involved, Mahaloth obviously looks somewhat suspicious. But you’re right, Mahaloth could be another innocent bystander here.

And I have played many games with Angel where she has outed herself as a town power role early, often earlier than she should have, because she hates keeping secrets as Town. So that part checks out.

If Biotop hadn’t died, I could maybe see it as some audacious scum plot, but I can’t see scum Angel sacrificing herself at this point when she almost certainly only has one remaining teammate.

unvote Mahaloth

at least until he gets in here to give his side of the story.

It’s possible, but we rarely see Bombs, because they’re so powerful for town.

But yeah, presumably someone Town killed Biotop, and if they don’t tell us about it today it’s probably because they still have shots, which is cool.

I’m sorry; I was foolishly only watching(in terms of alerts) Act I, so I didn’t really think to check here too much.

Yeah, wow, this is a lot to take in.

I’m clueless.

Is Thing Fish’s claim of Cicero weird? What’s with the closing bracket there?

Can’t confirm anything here except being an innocent victim. Someone obviously aimed a re-direct at me. I didn’t. I don’t have any re-direct/deflect power.

Well put. Wrong, but not an argument I can really complain about. It’s just not the case for me, though. I’m not scum and I can not redirect.

I don’t know about scummy, but it is kind of lame. Come on. How is that pro-town if your are town?

I don’t know who to vote for at this point. I need to think about this situation in general.

You ain’t seen nothin’ like The Mighty Quinn.

I agree that the question of whether I’m correct or incorrect is important. Yes, I’m willing to share those things.

So you are The Mighty Quinn?

I suggest we use Thing Fish in the game so we don’t get confused, though.

I wanted to wait until @Mahaloth had replied - unfortunately it wasn’t at all illuminating. However, now that he has, here are my thoughts:

In the previous day Pardel-Lux voted for LH75, Mahaloth (“scummy vibes”), and later for Thing.Fish despite it having no practical effect “so he knows I am watching”. After LH75’s death, Pardel-Lux said his(?) suspicions centred on Mahaloth and Thing.Fish.

Pardel-Lux was revealed to be Robin Goodfellow, a character known as a trickster. In the play he uses the juice of a flower to make characters fall in love, and replaces Bottom’s head with that of an ass. Seems an unlikely choice to be a vigilante or bomb. Cupid would probably fit best: assigning two other characters to be lovers. But the consensus was the game is too small for that. Being a redirector would also fit with the trickery theme. So maybe it was Pardel-Lux who redirected AotN’s action, assuming AofN is telling the truth? Redirecting to Thing.Fish fits with this, redirecting from Mahaloth doesn’t, since P-L was suspicious of both.

AotN identifies Thing.Fish as Angelo from Measure for Measure. AFAIK this isn’t one of the famous villains, so why pick the character? Perhaps because it would fit with a particular villain power? Judging by my quick googling, it would make sense as a godfather character (appears as town to cop, actually scum), but if that had been the case, presumably AotN would have been told an innocuous name. Not sure what other roles it would fit with. On the other side, I noticed it’s the beginning of AngeloftheNorth’s screen name, which is probably just a coincidence.
