Bushmills on light rocks.
I got a really nice booklight this year. It’s not so good for paperbacks, but works wonders for hardcovers.
I just read laying on my left side, with the book in front of me in my left hand. Right hand, covered to the shoulder, sneaks out and turns the page. I have a fantastic muscle memory for holding the book (usually a paperback) - my husband says my hand often stays in that forked position once I’m asleep and he removes the book.
It’s only a problem when I’m reading a big heavy hardback book, where the heavy right side wants to swing closed. And, I can no longer get comfortable when reading on my right side in a mirrored position…(TMI) When I have a sinus cold, I have to be very careful falling asleep - the left side is so comfortable to fall asleep, my left sinus fills up and gets infected…
In the movie The Bucket List, Jack Nicholson’s character wore prismatic glasses so that he could lie flat on his back, head on an ordinary pillow (i.e. his face was approximately horizontal), and read a book he had propped up on his chest. A simple mirror won’t work, since it will reverse and invert the text; thus the need for prisms.
Those glasses are for sale all over the web. Anyone tried them? I haven’t tried them yet, but I’m thinking about it.
for ones i’ve seen.
the field of view is small so you have to keep moving your head or book to read a page.
you need to keep head and book still to have focus.
focus and tracking seem to be much harder than straight on view.
