Sharing YouTube vids on Facebook not working correctly

For some time now I’ve been able to click the “Share” link under a video on YouTube, and then select the Facebook icon, which would bring up a popup window where I could enter my own comment and then send it zipping off to my Facebook page. This part seems to still be functioning exactly the same as before.

What’s changed is that the shared video is now appearing on my Facebook page as just a plain, clickable link that sends the clicker right back to the video’s YouTube page, instead of actually embedding the video in the page like it used to.

Meanwhile, earlier videos I shared — the most recent before I noticed this change was October 10 — are still correctly embedded. The first video I shared that appeared as a simple link was shared on November 1.

Since the sharing process seems to be unchanged on YouTube’s end, I’m concluding that something changed at Facebook’s end. But if so, I can’t find any information about it and don’t recall receiving any notification from Facebook about changes. Anybody have a clue what happened here?

Nobody else has noticed this?

I don’t use the Facebook button, however, I’ve seen it happen from copy/pasting links on my wall.

More often than not, it’s the smaller URL (from the Share button) that bugs out in the manner you describe. I found that using the URL from the browser address bar corrects it (But not always).

Thanks - I just reposted the most recent video I shared by copy/pasting the URL from the address bar, and that fixed it. This time, anyway — I tried that once before and it didn’t work for some reason.

Odd that using the “share” button worked perfectly for a while, then suddenly stopped, though.
