Sharon Osbourne has colon cancer!

And here I was thinking she was the perfect Asshole!

You know, a person could just deal with something like this in private, quite dignity. But NO!!, not this media-whore! I heard shes going to have parts of the treatment on her show! (yes, its HER show, and don’t forget it!)

What depths will this person go to for attention and money? Jesus, give us all a break and just go away, already! I hope the rating don’t drop too low or this woman may have one of her kids hunted for sport to draw more viewer back. :smack:

My dog suffers from dyslexia and a Christ complex.

Yeah, how come this is on the top-level CNN page? (Right next to the reports about Angelina and Billy Bob, as if anyone give’s a rat’s ass. ) A year ago no one had ever heard of her.

Sorry, I’d rather care about someone I actually KNOW who has cancer.

Friggin’ Tom Green wannabes!

Thank goodness Ozzy’s tour is going ahead as planned.

Well, some possible good can come from this, if it makes people more aware of colon cancer, and more likely to get checked.

If you don’t like it, don’t watch it.

That’s a nice thought, but I think the demographic the show is reaching are the kinds of folks who aren’t going to have anything checked. They just want to hear the words “Ass Cancer” over and over and laugh while smokin’ dope.

She told me she wasn’t sure about doing it because she was a Christian. I told her she would be saying “Oh God Oh God” soon enough.

Yeah! Let’s all sit around and bitch about someone famous, especially if they happen to get a potentially deadly disease, and choose not to be secretive about it!

For fucks sake, is a little compassion too much to ask?

Ooh, nice demographics there. Yup, all people who watch The Osbournes are dope smoking idiots without a fiber of reality in their bodies. Uh-huh.

Sharon Osbourne is an extremely hard working and hard nosed woman. That’s what makes her successful in an industry dominated by hard working and hard nosed men. She pulled Ozzy’s career out the crapper. If she were a man she would be commended for her business savvy.

I find her being ill very sad. She obviously has a family that loves her. Ozzy became hysterical after hearing that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, and had to be sedated.

Get well soon Sharon.

With all due respect to Ozzy’s very real love and fear, “sedated” is Ozzy’s normal state of being.

I agree with Honey. Get well soon Sharon. She is an excellent business woman.

After they cancel the Raleigh NC tour date of course.

I really don’t understand this. Am I to assume you have never, either on the boards or IRL, rendered a negative opinion about some arts/entertainment offing. Ever?

The OP is not calling for censorship from MTV. The OP is offering a negative opinion…(which BTW, I have no opinion on) If you have ever made a negative opinion about a book, movie, record, tv show etc…then I suspect you just made a hypocritical statement.

(Am I also to think that, in your world, entertainment critics should forthwith resign their positions?)

Yikes a catty bunch are we.

Here we have a woman who is by all accounts a loving wife and mother and a savvy business woman who entrusted with the difficult task of managing a fucking lunatic has done a real bang up job. Her kids are pretty all right too considering the media circus that comes with being the offspring of celebrities. And all some people can say is “what a media whore”

For what it’s worth she got the news just after she had negotiated the deal for another season. Her choices were to go hide her condition like a dirty secret or to go ahead and deal with it. Did anyone ever stop to think that possibly some people could benefit from going thru the experience with her.

I’ve heard she is a brilliant negotiotiator who is not to be fucked with yet is still respected by her peers. She has managed many other individuals and groups besides Ozzy as well.

She has taken some of the worst news a person could hear with an amazing amount of grace and still retains her sense of humor. How many of you reading this could say the same? Her take on the matter is “It’s a little bump in the road. I have to accept it as part of the journey I’m on.”

So back the fuck up on Sharon-bashing. I find it the epitome of poor taste to rejoice in the misfortune of others. This thread makes me sick to my stomach.

I knew you were an asshole before, gatopescado, and this just conformed my opinion of you. She has a deadly form of cancer. Colon cancer is going to be a big part of her life, and since The Osbournes is about her family life, it will be included.

Criticizing a highly succesful reality show for overexposure is one thing. Singling out the fact that she has developed a possibly fatal disease is quite another. It shows a certain callousness and lack of empathy for the human condition.

I know that you are an atheist, but that doesn’t mean you should act like you are without a soul.

Said it before, and I’ll say it again: THOU SHALT NOT TALK SMACK ABOUT THE PRINCE OF FUCKING DARKNESS.

Thank you.

Joe Don Baker?

I adore Sharon Osbourne and I hope she gets better.

My paternal grandmother died of colon cancer. It spread all over her body. :frowning:

But Ozzy is a fucking lunatic, Coldie. That’s why we love him.

And I’ll second Beeblebrox’s post. The family already had the contract for the second season. So after getting the diagnosis, she could have done three things:[ul][]Cancel the show[]Go forward, but hide the illness[*]Go forward and show the truth[/ul]Yeah, the options all suck, but the options all suck for every cancer patient. Given that, the third option is far and away the bravest. And I’ll tell you, bravery is a damn good thing. Not to mention, it will certainly make the second season a hell of a lot more interesting than it otherwise would have been.

I don’t watch “The Osbournes” regularly- occasionally catch it if I’m flipping past MTV- but it is pretty funny, and getting cancer is horrible for anyone. Some people might see it as tacky, but it is a lot better than hiding it. If I were in a position like that, I know I would feel afraid to tell people I barely knew. In some ways, it may seem too personal, though it does show courage that she’s not hiding it, as minty green and The Mermaid have said.

Also, it’s encouraging to see that they’re not letting it destroy them. A crisis has come up in their family, but they’re going to continue. From what I’ve heard, they honestly sound like a loving, if just slightly unorthodox :), family. With their support, hopefully Sharon will make a recovery.
