Shave the goatee, man

Just to weigh in…my SO has a goatee and believe me it’s a good idea. I’ve seen pictures of him before he had it. He has a very wide jaw, which makes him look, well, square. Literally. The goatee gives him some vertical length. And it doesn’t make him look hip, it makes him look rather elegant and dapper. And slightly evil which is a hard thing to pull off when you’re an accountant.

I don’t know about that… I’ve known a few accountants.

My boyfriend had a goatee when I met him, but shaved it off soon thereafter. He looked ok with it, but looks much better without it. But mainly, FEELS much better without it. No matter how facial hair looks, it always feels just awful.

I’ll toss a simoleon on “as few as humanly possible”. :stuck_out_tongue:
About the only facial-hair look I’ve not flirted with is the Mennonite-style full beard and no moustache. The goatee stays. If it looks like a worn-out relic of the 1990s, well, so am I.

Hey, the last time I was asked by one of my mother’s neighbors whether I’d already graduated High School was last year. I’m 38 (and female and ok I’ve seen girls 10 years younger with more wrinkles, but reeeeeeeelly!)

You’ve seen Noddy Holder?

No way. Let’s bring back the twirly mustache! So delightfully retro.

This idea makes me nearly gag in disgust. One of the many, many, many reasons I hate facial hair is that I think it’s dirty. The idea of a goatee with… juice… in it makes me quite literally feel like vomiting. And knowing my own body the way I do, I can just about guarantee you that I would not like the way it felt, either (I have very specific things that I think feel good, and they are quite far removed from that).

But this is only my opinion, and I am quite aware that there are plenty of people, both men and women, who like the way they look and the way they feel. I don’t pretend that my feelings are universal or even important. Just expressing them because it’s a thread in which people are doing so.

Well, given the nature of the bodies I would be doing that with, there wouldn’t be any juices (not till the end, anyway). And every man likes his balls tickled…

I knew a guy at my last place of employment who had a handlebar mustache. I often wondered if he also had a mirror…

You’ve got that mixed up. From barbershop dot com, a Van Dyke is a moustache with a V-shaped bit of hair growing off the chin. A goatee is like what The Dude wears.

I shaved my goatee off for a job interview just about a month ago. I’ve had it since the early 90s, maybe 92 or 93, and the last time I shaved was close to ten years ago. I hope to never have to shave it off again. I had forgotten what a complete pain it was to shave around my mouth and chin. Ugh. I was quite worried about cutting something off! Plus, I have thin lips and a weak chin, and, yes, lissener fat round cheeks, but I think I look much better with the goatee than without. As does my wife, whose opinion matter to me somewhat.

Yes but given the nature of the body that I have, and that any guy doing that kind of thing to me would be encountering, there definitely would be  And the thought oogs me out.

With teeth.

Wow. So I was 10 years ahead of my time when I grew this thing?

Seriously, I’ve never understood this thing with timed hair-style fashions. If it looked good 10 or 20 years ago, why wouldn’t it look good now? It’s all a wicked plot by hairstylists, methinks.

Yeah. According to that site, a goatee is what I wear, although I shaved off all but the moustache when I was going through chemotherapy. It just thinned out too much.

Your wife has a goatee?

Well then they keep changing the definitions. Apparently, what I have is now called a “Poet”. Alrighty then.

Bingo. I’ve shaved my head for years now, and if I don’t have a goatee, my head looks like a big pink bowling ball sitting on my shoulders.

I agree. EXCEPT when a fashion trend becomes so overwhelmingly popular among trendoids that it’s irrevocably identified with a particular time.

I’m with you OpalCat. While the goatee might be cute, it’s definitely not as nice to kiss as a smooth set of lips. I won’t elaborate any further.
