He has had very short haircuts the past few years, but yesterday he shaved his head. His problem is that he has three moles on his head, and one accidentlly got cut and bled.
How do you head shavers deal with moles on your head (if any of you have any?). Do you have to go to the Dr. and get them removed? It seems that would count as cosmetic surgery if there is no medical reason to get them taken off. My BF said he searched the internet for mole removal and there are some products you apply and 4-5 days later the mole falls off :dubious: (I’m skeptical).
The answer would depend on one’s own insurance company, but I’ve had cysts and skin tags removed from my scalp and other areas. I just told the doctor that the ones on my scalp got irritated when I brushed my hair and the tags would catch on clothing and get irritated and the insurance company never peeped about it. It was true for all but a couple of the skin tags, but since I worked for my insurance company at the time I knew they paid the same amount whether the doctor removed one tag or ten so I didn’t feel bad about having them taken off. Besides, I’d cut enough of them off on my own that they owed me a couple.
It sounds like your BF is shaving with a razor as opposed to clippers. Maybe he can switch to clippers and set the guard high enough so as not to cut the moles?
I had a large mole on my leg that always got cut when I shaved. My mom took me to the doctor and got it cut off and I think her insurance at the time covered it, since it was so large as to be a potential cancer risk (they biopsied it too). If it is large enough he can probably ask his doctor to remove and biopsy it; even if it comes out negative it would be covered in that case, just like cancer tests are covered (the cosmetic surgery is just a benefit). But all plans are different.
