Shayna is an intellectual coward

Poor little Marty, he’s finally falling victim to argumentum ad nausem.

I wonder if he’ll ever reach our current record holder’s “Bye everyone, you’re a bunch of asshole pussy liberals, and I won’t be coming back!” goodbye speeches.

-Joe

So, if he were to just go suck a cock he might be less of a dick?

-Joe

Don’t worry. There will still be all of us non-bots who warmly appreciate someone who risks his hide stepping in to defend the piled-upon where others fear to tread, with no anticipation of reward, reviled and loathed, yet a true-blue defender of the underdog, a fearless prophet, a genuine lone voice for the American Way…

Sorry.

You know, Jack, there are several brands of coffee out there that are just as tasty as caffeinated.

Ten bucks says he’s got a heretofore untapped talent in cocksmokery, on account of his being so goddamn toothless.

Friend Bricker is consistent in all things. It’s his best and worst feature. (Speaking of which, that torture memo thread in GD? I’d like your perspective on it.)
He has a side, and sometimes he biases towards it through excluded middle opinions, but he is remarkably objective about all issues, neither arguing for or against them, but rather, stating what he sees things to be.

When even Shodan and magellan01 say you were wrong for slamming a Democrat, even if it’s only due to being the wrong place for it, you know you fucked up.

Most likely yes.

Really, thats what I thought as soon as I read the 2 cents. Dude, get over yourself.

If it makes you feel better, I still don’t think of you as a good guy.

You know, as much as I think Martin Hyde comes off as a douchebag in both this thread and Shayna’s McCain thread, I think it’s pretty shitty to rub his face in personal information he shared in a completely different context, especially since I think it had to take a fair amount of courage to be as candid as he was. His sexual identity has no bearing on this thread, and taunting him with it is pretty low, in my opinion.

Thank you. Seriously.

Naw, no better.

agreed on all points.

I was going to say pretty much the same thing. In spite of kind of enjoying the hit he’s taking for this ridiculous pitting, I take no pleasure in denigrating him for his sexual identity problems, whatever those may be. It’s as much of a hijack to this thread as the racism charges against Barack Obama in my thread.

Since this isn’t my thread, I certainly can’t ask to have any say in the direction it takes, but since it is supposedly about me (and by extension how Martin Hyde responded to me and my thread), I’d certainly prefer to keep it focused on that. I certainly won’t be participating in this particular tangent.

While I would be none too happy with a McCain presidency, I am on record as actually being complimentary of him, saying in regards to a choice between him and Hillary Clinton:

But just because I don’t think he’s the minion of Satan, doesn’t mean he’s somehow not open to criticism, either. To not know what your own policy is on an issue is absurd. But even if I were to allow room for not wanting to speak out of turn on something he couldn’t recall specifically enough to respond, there are sure better ways of answering a question than, (paraphrasing now) “I know I must have a position on that. Brian, will you find out what my position is?” And if Barack Obama ever said anything that rose to that level of fucking stupid, I’d be right on board with railing against him for it, as well.

I haven’t told you lately how much I adore you.

For what it’s worth, Bricker, (and it probably isn’t worth much), I think you are one of the most knowledgeable and persuasive Dopers there is on Constitutional law; even if we don’t always agree, I can virtually always understand your justification for your viewpoint.

And I agree with the converse of that statement, which I think captures my admiration for Senator Obama pretty well. I disagree with him on many policy issues, but I believe he would be an excellent choice for President, because what you see is what you get: he’d lead from conviction, not current polls.

Your criticism of McCain on the “What’s my position?” point is a valid one – he wasn’t being dishonest, but it’s fair to say, “Hey, John, even if you don’t know specifics, you ought to have a general sense of where you stand on any given issue.” I think the problem is the “gotcha” brand of questioning, where any deviation from a previous position is played up as some deadly flaw.

But of the three viable candidates, I must admit that Obama is the least vulnerable to this sort of attack, because he’s the most willing to simply ANSWER, and take the heat if he misspeaks. Would that everyone was working from that page of the playbook – it would defuse the whole “gotcha” tactic.

Thank you. I have no dog in this fight (US election? There’s a US election?) but the whole “You said you might be GAY!!!” thing is pretty obnoxious. YMMV, etc.

I thought about that before posting the quote and the link, I swear. I was originally reminded of the post by a more recent ejaculation of Marty’s where he yet again linked homosexuality and mental illness with absolutely no evidence.

However, I couldn’t be arsed to deal with the five minute search limit when this blast from the past might have been more appropriate. I admit that it would have probably been a better idea to sit on it until the worm once again turned to the subject of buggery.

Still, since he managed to yet arouse such opprobrium, and the thread had turned to a discussion on Marty’s general fitness as a member, I figured it was worth bringing up, not to rub his face in anything, but those who didn’t recall the post in question some small bit of insight into why he may have chosen his particular brand of vitriolic evasiveness.

I should probably add that my intent was not “HAAAHA! Homo…” but more “HAAHA! Sad, pathetic little man…” I pity him more than I dislike him.

I would say that about McCain more than Obama (admittedly I am more aware of McCain’s missteps than Obama’s) - that McCain is brave enough to admit he doesn’t have all the answers, and is more likely to admit it than try to bluster his way thru.

And Obama is more insulated from the “gotcha” questions because much of the old media has anointed him as their savior. They will feed him softballs to an extent they won’t with McCain or Hilary. Nobody brings up that he might invade Pakistan - I read an interview with McCain last night where they kept asking him when he would invade Iran. Or witness the way (at least on the SDMB) Obama and Wright gets treated vs. McCain and Hagee. Hagee makes anti-Catholic remarks, and McCain repudiates them at once. Wright has been ranting against whites for a while now - Obama repudiated it as soon as it came to national attention. Guess who gets defended, and whose repudiation gets ignored?

Mark my words - if McCain ever seems to be getting too close to being elected, somebody will manufacture a scandal against him the way they did in 2004 with the National Guard forgeries. And the media will have learned from 2004 to the point where they will be more careful not to allow it to be debunked so quickly.

It won’t be anyone directly involved in the Obama campaign. It will be someone with plausible deniability.

Maybe someone with a Che Guevara flag on their wall.

Shodan
