Oh, please. Hagee’s comments have barely registered a blip in the media (despite begin inflammatory about Catholics, gays, women, Islam, and slavery) while the Wright footage (which is not anti-white, as you so glibly characterize it) has been played ad nauseum.
And while McCain denounced Hagee’s anti-Catholic remarks, he hasn’t been grilled by the media about any of the other things the Reverend’s publicly said. In fact, unlike Obama (who has specifically disassociated his campaign from Wright), McCain still felt completely comfortable appearing with Hagee on stage and publicly accepting his formal endorsement as a candidate.
McCain hasn’t been through 1/10th of what Obama has, despite having much closer associations with clerical figures with far more odious statements on record. Your comparison between the two is laughable.
A thread that was prompted by a hijacking with attacks against Obama (and started by the hijacker) has now drawn its own attacks against Obama’s supporters.
Psst, Shodan, you forgot the teacher’s unions. They’ll have all summer to be mean and unfair.
This is laughable considering how the media has pored over every word ever uttered by Obama, his wife and his pastor while little to no attention is paid to McCain’s gaffes, past corruption and major policy flip-flops (or his pastor). The media ALWAYS brutalizes Democratic candidates more than Republicans.
He never said he might invade Pakistan. He said if we became aware of high value targets in Pakistan and the Pakistani government refused to cooperate with us, then he would strike at those targets with or without permission from Pakistan. Guess what. GWB has been doing exactly that. Obama never said he would “invade” or try to occupy Pakistan (and he WAS asked about this during a debate, so you’re wrong on that too).
No he didn’t. He knew what Hagee was about before he sought out his endorsement and sucked his cock on stage. He only made a tepid attempt to distance himself from Hagee’s anti-Catholic statements after Hagee came under some public scrutiny. Hagee’s bigotry wasn’t news to McCain (and his bigotry extends far beyond just Catholics).

Wright has been ranting against whites for a while now[/quiote]
Cite for Jeremiah Wright ever “railing against whites?”
Obama has been saying for years that he doesn’t agree with everything Wright says, and more to the point, Wright has never said anything as offensive or bigoted as the things that Hagee says.
Cite that the NG papers were ever proven to be forgeries? Cite that the substance of that story want’t true?
Dude, the media has no partisan agenda and they always favor Republicans. Yiou need look no further than those swift boat scumbags from 04 and the way the media focused on bullshit accusations about John Kerry;s war record rather than focusing on the myriad crimes and incompetence of the Bush administration.
 I think you’ll find the lesson the media will have learned from 2004, if a similar situation should arise, is to check the story and its sources and documentation more carefully for authenticity, themselves, before broadcasting.
I think Shodan is forgetting that to this point, the meanest and nastiest verbiage fired at McCain has come not from “the old media” - but from his fellow Republicans.
It wasn’t so long ago that the right-wing pundits from George Will to the editorial staff of the Wall St. Journal down to the bottom-feeding bloggers were all ritually trashing McCain, as someone who was willing to work with Democrats, pushed campaign finance reform, didn’t kowtow to the Administration on all its anti-terror policies, and otherwise could not be trusted as an Heir To Reagan.
It’s only since the inevitability of McCain getting the nomination has sunk in that he’s become an embattled hero to the Republicans.
I’m not a partisan McCainite, but it seems to me that he’s gotten a fairly soft ride from the media thus far (including on the Hagee endorsement and his antivaccinationist comments), partly because he’s been seen as a more desirable candidate than his fellow GOPers, because he’s a likeable fellow and partly because he’s been flying under the radar during the current battle of attrition between Obama and Clinton.
Once the Democratic nomination has been settled, he’ll get tougher scrutiny. Some of it will be fair, some unfair - as Obama has been finding out.
Excuse me. I must now return to the secret Smear-Cave to get my marching orders from the Demo-Illuminati for subsequent posts.
Believe it or not, before this thread I was never entirely clear that Martin is a Christian or something of the sort. Therefore, as a morally superior Unitarian/atheist/agnostic/whuttevah, I say to Martin in the fullest and most appropriate expression of Christian love, may your first day in Hell last a thousand years, and may it be the shortest; and may your false and evil and abominable God (may He burn in His own Hell for His sins) never in all eternity take the least notice of you save as something upon which to wipe His ass.
Wow. You are really mad at him, huh? He’s more to be pitied than scorned, don’t you think? I can’t even manage any more venom in light of the turn this thread has taken.
However, today I ran across this graphic interpretation of the truth about Obama and thought immediately of Mr. Hyde (ours, not Stevenson’s). It’s all so clear now! Don’t fall for it, White America!
I must agree with you. I made a piling on post last night and have felt like a shit heel ever since. His candid personal information had nothing to do with this “debate”.
If I had the ability to delete my post I would do so gladly.
What has been said cannot be unsaid so I’d like to sincerely apologize to Martin Hyde. You didn’t deserve my two cents worth.
Good for you. Better you caught yourself before the post, but I understand your explanation. Personally, I think that an apology like someone else offered is in line, but that’s up to you. I hope others that fanned these particular flames that you ignited stop back to make a similar statement.
