Shayna is an intellectual coward

In other words, you are posting things you don’t believe in order to stir up shit.

Again, Martin, do you see what I mean? They often don’t even pretend they aren’t trolls.

Shodan

In retrospect, I’m compelled to say I hope that it was clear that I was joking.

Appeals to decency have no effect on automatons.

I really applaud your ability to maintain such a noble nature despite the relentless mistreatment you suffer at the hands of these thugs. You can only hope the excellent example you set, with your fallacy-free, well-reasoned posts, will inspire the orcs to become more human.

Actually, I’m just trying to top Cervaise in the vitriol stakes.

Don’t RW’s believe in the spirit of competition?

RWs?

Shodan

PS - Set your sights a bit higher. Cervaise did well with his Telemarketer rant, but the one in this thread was sort of lame. Mere venting, no creativity. YMMV.

Well, I HOPED…

Amazing how well he types with those holes in his hands.

Yeah, but he can’t swim. Has to walk.

Can’t eat M&Ms either.

So, it seems like we all agree with the OP. Good.

We told him they were all “Dubyas”. He bought it. Shhhhh!

You know, slaves, whores, retards, conservatives, lunatics, mental defectives, that sort of thng.

I never said it wasn’t. Show me where it is written that in the pit the rules of logic and reason don’t apply?

No, if someone else who was a mouthpiece for the Obama campaign had started that thread, I would have brought Obama up–period.

I already debated this issue, to my satisfaction, in the closed thread. By having the thread closed Shayna prohibited anyone who disagreed with me from having further say–and that’s fine. But that isn’t my fault, and I’m not going to reiterate arguments I have already made in a new thread, my arguments have been made in the venue I wanted to make them. To me, that particular topic (Obama being a racist) is now a done and settled argument as it pertains to me. At least for the time being.

It was about Obama, period. It was about Obama in the same way a negative attack ad about John McCain paid for by “Friends of Barack Obama” would be, about Obama. Specifically, about getting Obama elected, about making Obama look better by comparison. If you can’t understand this basic facet of politics, I’m sorry.

Negative attacks on your opponent in a political election are indeed about the person (or candidate) making the attack–these attacks are done to make one candidate look better than the other. I’m not saying some issues about John McCain weren’t being raised–but based on who was raising them and how they were raising these issues, it makes it abundantly clear to me that thread was the SDMB equivalent of a “Paid for by Barack Obama” negative attack ad. Such ads open up the person who put the ad up to fair criticism (or the candidate such ads support.)

Sorry, I don’t owe the OP impartiality. If Focus on the Family paid someone to post a thread about something in the pit, do you genuinely think everyone would act impartial and treat the thread and its arguments based on their own merit? No, of course not, people would point out the underlying bias of the organization the promulgated the thread.

Yeah, and I agree with a lot of what you’ve posted. In essence for about two years I’ve followed that general level of advice, I’ve ignored a lot of the more idiotic stuff I’ve seen here.

I’ve ignored probably 200x what I’ve confronted, and while I think ignoring some of the dumber circle jerk “we all love liberal-thing X” stuff is wise, sometimes I think it has to be hit head-on too.

It’s reasonable to want to avoid that though, because there is nothing more universal than the condemnation and outrage you’ll get from most of the political dopers when you dare go directly against an anti-GOP or pro-Leftist/Liberal (nowadays pro-Obama) circle jerk in progress.

You become that unwelcome guy who makes it harder for everyone in the circle to get off.

Call up the Nobel people. I’ve discovered a substance denser than osmium.

This is untrue, in that very thread I presented evidence to back up my assertions. There is more evidence out there, but I think one of the key pieces of evidence is the simple fact that Obama supports a guy who publishes hate-speech written by terrorists.

Jeremiah Wright’s racism is beyond question, and it is my assertion that long-time association, in the manner of making Jeremiah Wright your “spiritual mentor” and even giving him a position on your presidential campaign is a tacit endorsement of the man.

It’s one thing if this stuff was a secret, and Obama found out about it after the fact, but there’s no evidence that that is the case. Jeremiah Wright has not been afraid to make these hatemongering feelings of his known for decades.

In any case, as I said, I feel I debated the topic in the original thread. I’m sorry that it was closed, I would have debated it further in that thread. I’m simply not going to make it a habit to repost the same arguments over and over again just because one poster is too afraid to allow debate.

I prefer BrainGlutton’s posts in these threads to his usual habit of starting a thread that links to a news article about:

  1. Something evil Republicans are doing

  2. Some batshit, moronic conspiracy theory

  3. Some doomsday imminent that is probably being caused by Conservatives

Then making a few word comment on the article to the effect of, “Well, what do you think?”

It’s always disgusted me that someone feels the need to act as a lefter-leaning version of Fark here on the Dope. I also have little respect for people who won’t put out their opinions on a topic right when they start their threads. (With one exception being people who are openly and honestly just soliciting opinions of others.)

:dubious: You’re not still here, are you?
