SHE is Thor, hear her roar!

Ten years from now, Thor’s going to be a dude again.

One year from now, Thor’s going to be in the lead again. The movies trump all - they didn’t even leave Nick Fury as he’s been for the past sixty years, they replaced him with Samuel L. Jackson Nick Fury because that’s the one they have in the movies.

Black Nick Fury predates Sam Jackson’s portrayal by years.

Well, the new Thor reminds me of the (entirely worthy) army sergeant I dated many years ago, so FWIW I like it, though maybe not for an especially good reason. Point being, I am a part of one of the two big demographics.

Maybe eighteen months, depending on book sales. But the reversion will have nothing to do with the movies. It’s the nature of the medium that these changes almost never last more than two years, even when there’s not a billion dollar film franchise attached.

Yes and no. Nick Fury was explicitly modeled on Sam Jackson for the Ultimate universe, and that inspired Marvel Studios to cast Jackson in the role for the movies. Due to the success of the movies, the main Marvel universe introduced Nick Fury, Jr, who happened to be black, bald, and missing the same eye as dad. Then Nick Fury, Sr. was shuffled off stage and his son took over his role, both within SHIELD, and the larger meta-narrative of the Marvel comic universe.
