She shoots... She SCOOOOOORES!!!

Oh yeah baby… you could have cut the tension here in Edmonton with a knife as the Canadian under 19 women’s soccer team faced Brazil. Our Canadians had defeated all the opposition to this point, England, Japan, Denmark, Nigeria… did I miss anyone?

A win tonight would move the Canadians into the final game on Sunday against the United States.

After regulation time it was tied 1-1. After overtime it was still 1-1 so it went to a shootout… err… kickoff.

After 9 kicks the Canadians and Brazil are again tied 1-1 and Canada has one kick left. 37,000 people are completely silent as they hang from the edge of their seats and then… thirty seven thousand fans go completely beserk as the final kick goes sailing past the Brazilian goal-keeper.

They have outscored the opposition by a 16-5 margin thus far and possess the tournament’s top scorer in Christine Sinclair but the team they will face on Sunday has outscored their opponents by a staggering margin of 27-2 and is also unbeaten.

At 2pm on Sunday Team Canada will meet team U.S.A. to decide who becomes the world champions. It promises to be a hell of a game.

We like winning here and I’m gonna have to go with the home team.

WOOT! Raise the Roof! Calm precision wins the penalty kick every time!

Well, I’m not exactly a football/soccer fan but I sure as hell can hop on a bandwagon just as well as anyone else!

Go Canada!!

Is there a better city in Canada to host a world championship event then the self proclaimed “City of Mushrooms”? :stuck_out_tongue:

Go Canada…Go Canada…{performed with appropriate “making donuts” dance}

Yay! Go girls!

Where are they playing?

Ginger - They are playing HERE.

Okay… not right here because I have a really small back yard and there is nowhere for the fans to sit.

There is however, enough room at Commmonwealth stadium to accomodate such a crowd.

It’s gonna be wild.
