Ok, watched the second episode last night. I generally like the writing, but if “SH is distracted by his own massive brain at a crucial moment” turns out to be a recurrent trope, it’s already annoying.
Overall, I do like BBC tv, it’s so much more intelligent than American television. </bashing>
Also, the actor playing the cabbie in episode 1 played the bad guy in George Gently episode 1.
epi 2 is considered the weakest of the first three. although the more times you watch it, the better it gets. also you pick up on all sorts of fine details that cumberbatch and freeman put into their characters.
s&j are settling into being flatmates. john is starting to get his eye rolling to a fine art. the consulting detective business is starting to take off.
Anyone know the usual lag between airing and netflix? My wife and I just binged the show that way, and are looking forward to more.
I’m assuming there’s some sort of body double action going on. Remember that the little girl freaked out upon seeing Sherlock. That was never explained as far as I could tell. I bet Moriarty had a mock-Sherlock of some sort, and that’s who died. Molly’s assistance is no doubt in faking the autopsy report.
well, mr cumberbatch did do an amusing video for comic con where he “explains” surviving the fall. it involved plush monkeys, cabbage, tea, and a helo.
i’m not sure how long the lag on netflix. mostly people go for the dvd as soon as it goes on sale in the uk, blue ray mostly.
Yes.. there has to be a body from Molly.. he specifically sought out her help. But no surgery from Mycroft. Watson sees the corpse as Sherlock because the bicyclist who knocked him over dosed him with some of the hallucinogenic from the Baskerville episode.
I read today that they’re going to be airing the first episode in Britain in October. I can’t remember the exact date. No official trailer out yet, drat it.
Dude. That was published almost a year ago, and was just speculation. As of SDCC two weeks ago, Moffatt (who lies so much his pants are permanently on fire) said that the dates had not been set, other than late-2013-in-UK/Early 2014-in-US…
Also it makes me very happy that they’re tentatively confirming season four. At least, Benedict Cumberbatch said that he and Martin Freeman are signed on for season four, which is pretty definite.
Drat. Sorry, didn’t notice the date. Oh, well- late this year or early next.
Most guesses have placed the UK premiere of Series 3 at the end of this year. The BBC (& other UK networks) like to schedule “important” shows over the Holidays.
Cumberbatch has been heard to wish the US premiere could be simultaneous. Or, at least, not delayed for months & months. During which time many US fans have found ways, foul & fair, to see the show. (The DVD’s go on sale at Amazon.UK just after the end of the very brief series & many of us own all-region players.) That date is up to PBS…
From the Sherlockology tumblr, the closest thing there is to an official BBC Sherlock tumblr:
Two things:
John’s moustache!!!
Lestrade’s hair!!!
The look on Sherlock’s face as he walks into the restaurant. Afraid, and hopeful, and just so…yeah. The man Sherlock was back in S1E1 would not have worn that face. He wouldn’t have been capable of caring that much what someone thought.
