My wife and I consider these movies, not episodes of a TV show. We pretty much think of it as one of the best 6-movie sets out there. We’re looking forward to adding 3 more!

The BBC haven’t announced theirs yet, but it will be prior to the US broadcasts.
Looks like it’s going to follow Downton Abbey in the US. That should provide decent ratings for PBS.

Well, that’s odd. I have Sherlock Season 3 preordered from Amazon (US, not UK) and I just received a notice that the release and ship date is Jan 10, 2014. Seriously? Releasing the season on DVD before even one show has aired?? This has to be a mistake - anyone else see this? I keep waiting to get an “oops, we screwed up” notice, but no, it is still showing Jan 10, 2014 as the ship date.
I didn’t see a ship date on Amazon’s website when I looked just now, but I preordered. Thanks for letting me know it was already up! I just can’t wait.

Just checked my order status again - still says Sherlock Season Three - delivery estimate Jan 10-Jan 14. Main page says this item has not yet been released and has no release date. I think Amazon is pranking me, so I won’t get excited for a while yet. StGermain, next time you are in Amazon, check you order status and see what it says - I’m curious if you have the same ship date.
Amazon bases its estimates on whatever information it has on hand. Sometimes those dates are wrong.
A lot of people pre-ordered Diablo 3 with an estimated ship date in 2009 or 2010. That was still the date shown well into 2012. Likewise, I’ve had preorders for books turn out to be wrong.
You might well get the DVDs early, since they’ll have already aired in the UK. I wouldn’t count on it, though.
It just seems strange that they would have a ship date that predates any of the US airings - I’m not used to dvds of a series being released before the entire series has aired. I wonder if someone put in the UK air date of the first episode in the wrong field. I surely can’t be the only person to get this notice - they must have a lot of pre-orders. Not that I object, mind you, although I’m supposed to be attending a viewing party with friends on January 19, and if I did get my dvd before then, it would be agony not to watch it.
Series three hasn’t aired in the UK yet. They haven’t even announced the air date there, although we know it’ll air 1/19 on PBS.

StG - that certainly makes sense which is why I was so surprised at getting the initial ship date. Amazon never sent me a message updating it. Good thing I never beleived them in the first place or I would be so disappointed.
