sherlock series 3

I thought faking his own death via time machine was unconvincing- The team up with Harry Potter works surprisingly well. I’m not sure Moriarty’s brain being transfered into a cloned Trex works. 4/5 stars overall.

I kind of groaned when I saw Mark Gatiss wrote it so maybe I’m not the best judge but, an hour in, it’s not really happening for me…

Well, I really enjoyed it.

Bit of a character piece really - and those bits were great, and often funny. The main plot seemed terribly thin though, but I guess it was to set up what happens next. However, I mostly enjoyed it, and it’s nice to see a TV show trolling the audience quite as much as this does.

I enjoyed it. I wish I could figure out how to do spoilers on my iPad, or aren’t spoilers allowed in this thread? I have questions! And comments!

A pretty fair summary i’d say.

I thought it was good. The plot was definitely shaky, which I attribute to Moffat, as it’s the same shakiness present in most of the new Dr. Who episodes, but the dialogue and characters were amazing. I don’t know whether it’s Moffat or Gatiss who writes all the banter, but it really is great. I’d also forgotten how beautiful the cinematography was for this show.
The more emotional bits were balanced out nicely with humor and action, so it wasn’t too soppy, but still had some depth. And of course, the theme tune is now stuck in my head :D.

I think spoilers are fine once a show has aired in the country of origin.

I must say I loved the opening sequence so much, going from my head in hands “no, no, no that’s rubbish!” to bursting out laughing. Well played Mr Gatiss.

Trivia: Sherlock’s parents were played by Benedict’s actual parents.

Also Watson’s fiancee Mary, is Martin Freemans actual wife.

I texted my daughter after the first five minutes or so, not telling her how, but just that it was amazing. As the show went on, though, I realized, too soon!!!

I did like the second, I think, scenario. I was laughing out loud.

So the superfan - what was the point? And my main question, am I just thick or am I supposed to be confused?

Speculation, i’ll box it for the sake of non-uk viewers.
So who do we reckon the bloke at the end was?

Actual Moriarty, the previous one just being a disposable frontman?
Ooh, just had a thought. Could it be an update of

Charles Augustus Milverton, the blackmailer from the eponymous adventure

I like your thinking!

Could it be that

Moriarty has a father or brother who has become involved?

I am so glad this is back. I saw it and loved it.

My wife and I knew that he was faking the bomb going off at the end to get John to be emotional with him and forgive him.

Anyway, we loved it and are so glad it’s back.

I watched it live and then again on BBC I-Player.

I really enjoyed it, although there are several questions raised.

I’ll try to use enough spoilers!

I really enjoyed the first theory about how Sherlock faked his death, especially using Derren Brown!
Despite other theories advanced during the episode, I don’t believe we know how Sherlock did it.

I liked Sherlock’s gradual realisation about how much he had upset Watson by not telling him earlier that he was alive.

I’m confident that the next villain is Charles Augustus Milverton , because I’m sure I read a reference on the BBC website (or somewhere.)

I’m concerned for Molly because Sherlock seemed to spot something dubious about her fiance Tom.

Future episodes get spoiler boxes, but not the one that just aired, right?

Anyway, when he saw Molly’s new boyfriend, I think his main observation is that the guy looked like him. She’s dating a look-a-like Sherlock.

Wait, do we know how he did it? I thought his explanation about the air mattress, etc. was the real one. Wasn’t it?

I don’t know, because then he seemed to go back on it at the end and said it wasn’t.

That was a lot of fun. The crime was a bit silly, but watching John slug Sherlock in a variety of gradually worse restaurants was a ton of fun.
