sherlock series 3

Here’s a cool new BBC interview with Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. They’re discussing aspects of the new series, and I’m happy to hear that the Charles Augustus Milverton adventure will be the basis of one of the new episodes.

Someone sure posted it fast!

Mini-episode.

Anderson isn’t such a dope after all!

Yay! That’s a nice wee teaser. I’m glad to see the BBC didn’t region-lock it either - they’re getting smarter about that stuff.

a nice little holiday treat. a good lead up to the series start in just a week.

Indeed they are, since the video from that link is region-locked now. :frowning: I was looking forward to it too.

OK, I guess it’s too long since I saw series 2. Who is the beardie guy in the pub talking to Lestrade?

Perhaps it’s been too long for me. I thought he was introduced in that mini-episode and was simply a guy who was a “conspiracy theorist” that had been, correctly of course, tracking Holmes path.

That’s Anderson, who formerly did forensics for the police. Sherlock always considered him a fool & he returned the dislike. In the last episode we saw, he and Sally tried to convince Lestrade that Sherlock was a fake & a criminal–who had actually done most of the crimes he had “solved.”

Of course, the Anderson “theory” disappeared under scrutiny–just like “Richard Brooks” was, no doubt, soon discovered to be a fake. But this was after the deception had driven Sherlock to “suicide.” My theory: Anderson went nuts because of the guilt. He lost his job & devoted himself to proving that Sherlock had survived.

Anderson had a beard in the never-broadcast pilot. And, damn, his current beard is really ugly…

Damn Anderson looks like hell with a beard.

I’m imagining a teary confession scene when Anderson finally realizes the whole thing is hollow, and that he hounded a guy to death on the basis of (hindsight-obviously) planted evidence. Poor asshole.

Now I’m a little worried about Sally. If Anderson’s gone the “oh god what have I done” route, then Sally is more likely to be the “conspiracy theorist” with her eyes and mind closed to alternatives because she doesn’t want to deal with what she’s actually done. That’s going to be… unpleasant.

On to another related topic: Who is “theimprobableone” from the blog that helped unlock the deleted material from Facebook? I’m thinking right now that it might be The Woman, which would explain John’s being protective of her.

I’m thinking that “theimprobableone” is Anderson as well. Doesn’t John ask how things are going with Ella, who is John’s therapist and who maybe has been seeing Anderson since he lost his job, too? John isn’t really supposed to know that Irene is still alive, is he?

The brief glimpse we get of the inside of Lestrade’s box of Sherlock’s stuff reveals:

A mask of a yellow face - ha
The pink phone
Nicorettes
Some sort of device printed with “LMS” and “16032” - can’t see what it is

The other thing in the box is a model train engine.

It’s one of these HORNBY LMS 0-4-0ST LOCO NO16032 BEATTIES SPECIAL EDITION 1983 R770 | #293065616 a model steam train.

so … anything worth watching on telly tonight?

I’m seeing Desolation of Smaug today and Sherlock tonight.

Martin Freeman, here we come!

What time does Sherlock air?

I wish you folk in the U.K. would post live as you watch it, preferably drunk, kind of like these guys did:
