Shit I DON'T want to hear now!

I DON’T want to hear…

[ul]
[li]That the hijackings could have been prevented if the passengers or flight attendants had been armed. k2dave is a dumbass son of a bitch.[/li][li]“God Bless America.” If God existed and He had ever blessed America, why the fuck did this happen? What’s the fucking point of being blessed if we still have tragedies?[/li][li]Insane conspiracy theories:[/li]
[li]“It was done by the government so they would have an excuse to take our freedoms away.”[/li][li]“The government knew it would happen and did nothing to stop it so they would have an excuse to take our freedoms away.”[/li][li]“It was done by the government so they’d have an excuse to bomb Afghanistan.”[/li]
[li]People whining about no sports to watch this week.[/li][li]People whining about increased security at airports.[/li][li]People whining about ANY minor inconvenience.[/li][li]Christian kooks saying this is a sign that “We’re in ‘The Last Days…!’”[/li][li]Racist assholes saying we should kill Muslims, ANY Muslims. That would be like killing Christians because Timothy McVeigh was one.[/li][li]My mother bawling her eyes out over the telephone over this terrible loss of life. It pains me to hear her weep.[/li][li] My brother’s indifference. “I didn’t know any of 'em.”[/li][/ul]

I hear ya. Damn people.

Thank you for doing this the right way. I understand how you feel in my own way (yea what does that mean - I know).

I won’t try to address the things you want don’t want to hear because you don’t want to hear them. Just whenever your ready open your mind and re-read my post.

I don’t want to hear people whining about what other people are whining about in an admittedly shocking event.

Perhaps you should write a concise pamphlet explaining how we can react correctly next time something terrifying happens to one of the largest buildings in the world.

Then you can stick it up your ass, because it isn’t going to do any good anywhere else.

“Lesse… nation under repeated terrorist attacks… section 3 subsection 2a… uh-huh… I see… ok, perfect.”

eris-right now, we’re trying to deal with this. People using it to advance their little causes are only making it worse.

Guin, I said it before and I’ll say it again… I don’t see it as advancing a cause.

It was, you’ll warrant, a question. The answer may very well not aid the cause you perceive. In fact, in this case it didn’t, but I’m only saying that by guessing what you feel “the cause” is.

Whatever. I like you guin, but that pisses me off. I think its a legitimate question and it had a legitimate answer and thats the end of that. Right now we’re discussing tasers and air marshalls… what hidden agenda do you find there to accuse us of?

Yeah, what’s the matter with youse anyway???

You sound like Seethruart telling me I can’t see the alien spacecraft in the Moon pictures because I’m not looking hard enough.

Allowing people to bring guns onto an airliner for their own protection is one the dumbest fucking ideas I have EVER heard and I’ve heard A LOT of dumbfuck ideas.

I couldn’t saay this in GD, but now that you’re here:

YOU ARE A DUMBASS OF THE HIGHEST ORDER!!!

You’re advancing armed combat on a freaking pressurizes aircraft. Screw the damn oxygen masks. Each and every take off in an airplane produces stress and minute fractures in the skin of the aircraft. ITS THE LAST FUCKING PLACE ON EARTH YOU’D WAN TO FIRE A GUN!!!

Fucking Moron.

jab1, I’m with you on not wanting to hear people whine right now. And your last two points are excellent. I just wanted to add a couple of observations.

First, regarding the “God Bless America,” while I agree with your sentiment on a personal level, if that is giving people some comfort right now, I say go for it. Second, regarding conspiracy theories, you missed one – that Israel did it to make it look like Arabs and Muslims did it. In another thread, someone linked to this sotry with some world media reaction.

Finally, regarding the no sports whiners, Michael Wilbon of the Washington Post, one of my favorite sports columnist, had this to say in today’s column:

He’s right. It just doesn’t matter right now. Anyone who whines about not being able to watch sports this weekend is an idiot. Sure, we want to show our resilience and defiance by getting things back to normal as quickly as possible, but let’s have some perspective. I was scheduled to go down to a volleyball tournament on Friday at NYU, which is close the WTC and within the blocked off zone. If NYU had decided to hold the tournament and the team had decided to go, I would have said fine. But there’s no way I can complain that this meaningless (in the big picture or life) tournament was cancelled.

I only read the first part of your thread. If you had raised the question in a week or two (or maybe a month or two), I wouldn’t have had a problem with the topic. But quite frankly, I think bringing up this topic on the day of the tragedy was completely out of line.
