Shitty Songs from Your Teen Years that You Still Sorta Love

Ahahahahahahahaha

I remember that from his “Behind the Music”.
I don’t know the name of the song, but “I wanna know what love is (I want you to show me…)” etc. is the song. Also, It’s not technically from my teen years, cuz it’s older than I am…but that’s when I discovered it.

Actually, all those are on my iPod too. Along with greats like
The Night Chicago Died- Paper Lace
Chick-a-Boom - Daddy Dewdrop
Telephone Man- Merry Wilson
Seasons in the Sun- Terry Jacks
Convoy- CW McCall
I am Woman- Helen Reddy
The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia- Vicki Lawrence
I Am I Said- Neil Diamond

Younger teen years (I think I was actually 12): Mr. Jones by Counting Crows

Older teen years: Crazy Game of Poker by OAR

I’m really nostalgic for those shitty songs. Everything else I liked was actually good :D.

Alright, Scumpup. Rock on!!!

Surprisingly, it’s “I Want To Know What Love Is” by Foreigner:

**PeacePlease **and Scumpup, can I hang out witcha? I’ll bring over my collection which includes

Rock the Boat - Hues Corporation
Angie Baby - Helen Reddy
Slow Dancing - Johnny Rivers
Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band
Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
Kung Foo Fighting - Carl Douglas
When You’re in Love with a Beautiful Woman - Dr. Hook
Bad Blood - Neil Sedaka

Me, too! Me, too!

Though, I think I’ll have to leave the room when you play “Afternoon Delight.” Gives me hives.

Yay! A 70s music-athon. Someone bring the weed! Bad Blood…there’s another good one. And how could I have forgotten Kung Foo Fighting?

That’s not a shitty song. I think it’s one of the best of the 90s, and I enjoy singing along at full blast.

It was slightly earlier than my teen years, but a couple months ago VH1 Classic was re-running it’s 100 Greatest Songs of the '80’s series, and I realized that I really dig New Wave. As mannered and affected as those acts were, “I Ran,” “Obsession,” “She Blinded Me With Science”-- that’s some great pop music right there. (Ooh – and “Pop Music,” too!)

I was a teen in the 1980’s and was a fan of all the heavy metal acts then, and the big hair bands.

Dokken, Metallica, Ozzy, Black Sabbath…I pretty much liked it all. I only like some of it now, mostly Black Sabbath and very old Metallica, but I rarely listen to it unless I’ve been drinking or something, just for nostalgia’s sake.

Dude . . . do you realize you and Diogenes the Cynic could be really good friends?

Old Black Sabbath rocks. I can’t get enough of it.

True, true. But aren’t we deviating from the OP? I mean can one really call Metallica, Dokken, and/or Ozzy and Black Sabbath “shitty”?

Me thinks not!

Jagged Little Pill has been my secret shame lo these many years.

I still kinds like the Goo Goo Dolls.

Soundgarden was awesome.

Huey Lewis & The News

My contribution: Glenn Campbell, Rhinestone Fucking Cowboy

Edit: Well, it’s not from my teen years, but…

More appropriate:

All hairband music. I have multiple CDs with Skid Row, Motley Crue, Warrant, Whitesnake, and the like.

OK, you’re right. See my post above!

I’m pretty sure I’d never seen that before. Who is that in the black corset?

Somehow when people talk about bad music from back in the day, they always seem to forget about all that New Jack R&B and dance from the late 80s / early 90s.
