Shitty Songs from Your Teen Years that You Still Sorta Love

Now this holds true to the OP. Definitely shitty and I can sing every frickin’ word! But Glenn is a homey 'cause he did “By the time I get to Phoenix”…another shitty song but we always squeeed when it came on the radio 'cause it was a shout-out to the hometown team!

I see all those and raise you one **Color Me Badd **-- I Wanna Sex You Up

To the uh, tick-tock, you don’t stop

Turn Down Day (YouTube), by The Cyrkle.

Dig it: “things that are waiting to mess my mind
will just have to wait till tomorrow”

Then we can’t forget ‘Incense and Peppermints’ by The Strawberry Alarm Clock.

And Bob Dylan’s Rainy Day Women #12 & 35.

Graduated HS in 1979

I’ll second Do you think I’m sexy

and add

Saturday Night Fever
Short People

Most any song on my iPod. I came home drunk one night years ago and saw the Time/Life Hits of the 70s ad and said: I gotta get that!

So now I have a bunch of bad songs from the 70s - and I love it.

I’m in the 80’s camp with MeanJoe. I always go running with tons of 80’s music on the iPod–was out today, as a matter of fact. These are the the ones that always make me smile most when I’m out there:

Ti Amo (Laura Branigan)
Footloose (?)
St. Elmo’s Fire (?)

I’m going to use this thread for inspiration of more songs to download!

Well played sir.
But allow me to raise the stakes with some dance hits from the 90s. Technically I was in my 20s by this point, but we can let that slide.

I know I’m supposed to hang my head in shame every time I even think of that song but I can’t help myself; the video makes me laugh.

I’ve got it too! Only I wasn’t drunk, I was oddly excited. 1978 is the best.

You must come to our 70s rock-a-thon, Khadaji!!

I bought the whole damned series. 10 CDs, one each from every year of the decade.

These threads make me cry.

Blinded by the Light… shitty?
Baker Street… shitty?

Now baby Jesus is crying - man, y’all are in for it now!

A lot of songs from the 80’s that I grew up listening to–well, they’re so deep in my brain that I don’t actually know if they’re good or bad. Some are obviously bad, but, say, Talking Loud and Clear by OMD; I’m pretty sure it’s not a great song. But I love that song, I know every note, and it reminds me of an old friend, and I have no idea whether it’s good or terrible.

You use “mannered and affected” like they were BAD things. It was the style, like Oscar Wilde’s comedy. Great art can be created within strictures of taste, something modern artists tend to forget. As for “Kung Fu Fighting,” I’ll quote, or paraphrase, Flo, or Eddie, “Who the hell bought that shit? I didn’t buy it. YOU didn’t buy it. So who the fuck bought it?”

You should listen to Isaac Hayes’ cover of the song–all 23 minutes and 48 seconds of it.

D’oh. You owe me one brain - Dee-lite has taken over my old one.

I see your GnR and raise you some Cinderella Don’t Know What You’ve Got Till It’s Gone. Gotta love the sensitive glam-rock.

And how about them Divinyls? I Touch Myself

Tammy…Debbie Reynolds

Tell Laura I Love Her…I forget

How Much is that Doggy in the Window?.. again I forget

Summer the first time…Bobby Goldsboro’ (I think)

When I was a sprog many moons ago, there were so many shitty songs It’s unbelievable…yet we bought 'em ::smack::

Would that be Tell Lori I Love Her by Keith Whitley, about Lori Morgan? God, I do not know that :o.

OMG it’s so deliciously bad, I love it!

I also like that in the comments a guy felt inspired:

Cinderella heals all wounds!
