Shiver Me Timbers! A Pirate MMP

49F and sunny this morning! Nice and fresh fall temps and a good day to visit the arboretum. Methinks we’ll break our fast with a toasted everything bagel, salmon cream cheese, bacon, sliced tomato and dill, and a grind of pepper. Coffee, natch. Been more than 12 years since we’ve lived where there is a crisp autumn. In Portland, it just got cooler and wet without many of those clear, crisp days of my yoot.

My lovely wife wishes she could eat dairy, but vegan cheese is what she can have.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 18c/64f with a predicted high of exactly the same, and apparently it’s raining although it appears not to be. Weather app is unimpressed and says “Dear Mother Nature. Can you fucking not?” Since I am venturing out into the Big City tonight, I am hoping Mother Nature sticks with “not”.

Happy birthday, oopsie - since I’m on the other side of the pond and living in most people’s future, I miss birthday announcements on the day they happen, so you’ll just have to keep the celebrations going

Mooom I hope the apartment applications go well and FCD manages to get everything done in time. I share the Chrome/Firefox frustration, used to use Firefox all the time at irk but it dropped off our software centre so we have to use Chrome instead. Except for the timetabling app that insists it only works with Explorer. So now we have Edge and the old Explorer has disappeared as well, I have to keep telling Edge to act like Explorer just so the timetabling system will load.

Busy afternoon of irk but it’s almost time to pack in for the day. Off out tonight to see Doug Stanhope and use the tickets I’ve had for nearly 3 years. It’s strange to think that I am finally using tickets I have had for so long, especially since we saw Doug last December in Vegas!

Right…off to sort out another mess of stuff before I log off for the day.

V + lad + emir + ‘poo tin’.

Pardon me, sir, but are you having a stroke?

I prefer oat milk to either soy or almond on those occasions when I use something non-cow. Though I’ve never tried - or much less, tried to make - vegan cheese.

Mooooom, I really do hope the in-laws’ move goes as quickly and smoothly as you predict. The worrier in me feels like there’s got to be a bump in the road or two coming. I’m sure you will deal with anything that comes your way. Just try not to get discouraged if all does not go according to plan.

I’m off to see my A’s in a little bit. They’re terrible this year, but this will likely be my last time ever visiting the Coliseum. Sure it’s a dump, but it’s not a bad place to see a ball game, and the place holds memories for a lot of people, including me.
The A’s are either going to follow me to Vegas in a couple years or I’ll come visit their brand-new Oakland ballpark. I’d give it about 50/50 right now.

That was irritating. It should NOT have taken that shopper two hours from claiming the order to delivering what she bothered to deliver. I had three items I had ordered two each of, and one item I ordered four of. Every item was billed for the amount I ordered (ItemQuantity), but I received ItemQuantity-1 of every one (items I ordered two of, I got one, the one I ordered four of I got three). Cost her half the tip I’d intended (I start at 20%, but this level of screwup did NOT rate that much) and a three-star rating on the order (if nothing at all went wrong, I’m nice about giving five-star ratings). I do have enough of each item for at least a couple of days, so it’s not a crisis, but is annoying.

On the plus side, I feel pretty good today, so the flu shot was a lot kinder to me than usual. Also, Instacart is quite good about handling problems like this, so they’ve already refunded me the amount for what I didn’t actually receive. I can hope they’ll be having a little chat with the shopper about accuracy.

Two deliveries pending. OnTrac is dependable in my area, FedEcchs not so much.

Maybe I’m wrong, but it’s my impression that Instacart only charges for items that are actually scanned at checkout, regardless of what you’d ordered. Which would mean your missing items were physically in the shopper’s possession, yet never made it to your door. Which is a much worse infraction than mere inaccurate shopping, IMO.

For some reason, we seem to encounter this issue more often when we order alcohol.

TIL:
The best way to send documents to the IRS is to put your UPS label on the banker box of documents, then put that box in a bigger box, and seal it up.
Amazon will sell you a jar of broken glass, on purpose. Between that and Nyqil Chicken, I’m ready for Skynet to play Global Thermonuclear War.

Bummer. Glad it’s gonna be fixed, though.

I had frozen dinners (DH likes them for breakfast), ready-to-eat jello, and enchilada sauce. I did explain the situation to Instacart, where I was missing one of each item I’d ordered and been charged for. Hopefully, giving her as low a rating as I did will seriously lower the odds she gets one of my orders again. Instacart themselves were all over adjusting my bill (OK, so it was a credit toward my next order, but that works fine for them and for me). How they choose to deal with their contractor is between them and her, IMO.

OK, so I wasn’t as recovered from that flu shot as I thought. About five minutes each way to the nearby CVS has me a bit winded and somewhat overheated (it’s below 70F right now, but I was wearing sweatpants).

Scheming an enchilada-ish casserole later. Take enchilada ingredients, do lasagna-style layering. Still tastes just fine, less hassle and mess in assembly.

Afternoon all. Got my 600 calories burned off and shopping/bill-paying is done, so just slothing until it gets time for soccer practice around 5pm. Sunlight is getting in shorter supply, by 6:45 it’s darkening and by 7:15pm you can forget about it, and it’ll get a few minutes shorter each day. We do have lighted fields, but we’re not on one today.

I told y’all I was Bad at Rebus. But I admit it was clever, flyboy. And only stroke for me, shoe, is the backstroke I do in the pool three days a week.

Nettie, take care now. Never used Instacart, see folks at the stores doing the shopping but since I usually get more of the same I haven;t been motivated to try them yet.

Wheelie, enjoy the baseball game; last one I saw was years ago in the new Cleveland Jacobs Field.

Thinking a little bit about nappa…zzzzzz

It rained so no playground time. Both kids are here in the basement.

Not sure what we’re having for supper. Maybe we’ll go out.

Some of you may remember I had a ‘personal best’ on a walk of 3.22 mph. Well, today I had another personal best: 3.20 mph. 'Um, Johnny? 3.2 mph is slower than 3.22 mph. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: ’ That’s correct. But the 3.22 mph was over 2.54 miles, and today’s 3.2 mph was over 3.09 miles. I think the extra half-mile makes it count.

I’ll support your logic.

Just wondering: are you taller than average? I’m 5’4", shortish legs, and for me 2.5mph is pretty brisk.

Officially I’m only 5’ 11", but I think I’ve shrunk in the past couple of decades. :frowning:

Howdy Y’all! Quality cee-mint pond time plus day drinkin’ is a good way to spend part of one’s day. Nappage is a good way as well. We are truly the slothiest of sloths! Sup got fixed and et and the kitchen cleanded up. Thus it was in swampland.

Well, yeah, it always happens, and FIL’s dementia means problems are almost guaranteed. First things first - possible buyer seeing the house tomorrow… And fingers crossed that their apartment application is approved. There was no place to state that they’ll have a big chunk o’cash from selling their house, so their income is lower than the apt requires (3X the rent) But the proceeds from their house will go into a fund that they can draw from. With luck, we’ll get the keys on Oct 1.

The kids are finally gone - daughter had a long day and lost track of time. I ended up having to feed them. But we’re childless tomorrow. I get to take Roxy to gymnastics on Saturday, then we’ll go to the fair and man the school’s table for 2 hours. Here’s hoping Sunday is our own.

I just inhaled some leftovers. Time for chillage - tomorrow’s high is forecast in the 60s! Glorious!!!

My DIL wanted to see me for my belated birthday, so took a half-day off, which really means moving meetings around, not any actual time off. So sweet of her! That meant they ALSO brought their one young dog with them, a sweet-but-derpy border collie. So I had one sedated Very Old Dog (She has car anxiety.), one still-loopy-from-meds-for-a-minor-veterinary-procedure Very Old Dog, and one higher-energy, pleeeease-throw-my-sodden-toy Very Young Dog here, plus the adult humans. My DIL had made a special cake for me, and we had a wonderful time eating and kibbitzing during the three-ring circus. Due to the chaos, I only got one old dog photo, and it’s not a good one, but as requested, here it is:

She’s actually beige with a white (from age) face.

I’m exhausted but have to get to the pharmacy and the gym. More later!

ETA: Not sure I did that right .

nellie Love the pic of the old girl. Please give her skritches and hugs from me.

Fairly quiet day here at casa paint. I made some stuff at the shop, hope it sells, gotta run it up the lake on saturday. Still waiting on a potentially months long project, which would be great.

No, on to something fer dinner. Contemplating mozzarella sticks…Prolly should have more, but I did eat an actual breakfast and lunch today. Lunch is frequently forgotten.

May the remainder of your move go smoothly pilot.

Poor Jelcat! susan, just wondering if he was named for the Jellicle cats from T.S. Elliot?

JtC, GG and Nelson are currently pretty close in size. I’d imagine that GG will get a bit bigger and Nelson may well put on a middle aged spread at some point, but 17-18 lbs for now.

Moooooom, I had to convince my SIL that fat free half and half was not diabetic friendly when I opted for 2% for my coffee. Lot’s of HFC in that and coffeemate (something else that she’s fond of).

nellie, your granddog looks like a real sweetie. :skritches: to all of them.

I trained a new person to wipe phones right after lunch, then began flashing. We had a little celebration for my lead’s birthday with the card and a strawberry tres leche cake.

I took Nelson to the dogpark, where he got to hang out with Layla and Jersey and I got to visit with their humans. Once home, Molly was out, so he gave her some face kisses. The dog has a better love life as a neutered pooch than I do. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
