Shiver Me Timbers! A Pirate MMP

:birthday:  :clinking_glasses:HAPPY BIRTHDAY OOPSIE :clinking_glasses:  :birthday:

Very cool!

It looks like a bird nest to me, although I freely admit that I don’t know much about the nesting of squirrels.

The quilt is beautiful! Skritches to Ralphie, who is clearly a very good boy.

You’ve been working very hard at the exercise. I’m glad you are seeing good results from that. Congratulations on the loss!

Storms are weird like that. I’m glad he escaped damages.

If image search is reliable, it is definitely a squirrel’s nest. Now I’m just curious about what I saw. I’ve never seen a squirrel carry another squirrel like that and I don’t think it was a baby; it wasn’t that much smaller than the other one.

You did it right :+1:t2: Worked fine for me~Your doggie is so cute! Very sweet looking puppy. Skritches, of course.

Had a great time there 20 years ago, as well as Cleveland in general. I wouldn’t mind getting back there one day.

Evening all. Soccer has been practiced and cheeseburger consumed, so will watch some tackleball here in a bit. Had a good nap this afternoon so will be staying up late again. However, we got a cooling off period, it’s 74F now and supposed to get to the mid-50’s tonight so definitely giving the AC a break.

Lived 30 miles south of Cleveland for the first 25 years or so of my life, I’m old enough to remember when the Cuyahoga River caught fire, but they have done a lot to revitalize the city the past 20 years or so.

nellie, nice pup, here’s some free skritches to them all. ANd sounds like you hit it well in the DIL department.

Ritual sacrifice to the Acorn God???

Thank you. Only problem is that if I lose too much more I’m going to grow right out of my 2XL jeans and other stuff and need to shop for smaller sizes…ugh.

OK, that’s all folks, catch up with you tomorrow.

i think my stubborn alley cat whos been fighting for life for almost a year or more is in the final round …

[Discourse]

Thank you and I’m sure the SURPRISE inspection will go just fine. We both play with fermentation and have to be really careful about allowing bacteria and yeast to escape into the wild lest it sneak back in when it is least wanted. The only issue I have with the inspectors is that they want to stick their thermometers into my fermenting milk and that leaves me with ugly curds. That nobody but me will ever know were there and will make no difference to the finished product but it always annoys me to no end.

It seems to me that there are different sorts of vegans and more often they tend to be what I call “ethical vegans”. They feel that it is wrong to consume animal flesh or products, but they still lurve a good cheeseburger. They are the ones who go to the King and get a Beyond Meat burger with vegan cheese.

Veganism is actually very healthy, but folks who choose to become vegan for their health aren’t going to be eating substitute meat or dairy products. Fake Whoppers have almost a thousand calories, and are very high in fat and sodium. They also have enough carbs to make our flyboy faint.

My vegan cheese is very high fat and one serving is about 200% of the daily amount of sodium.

There are things I could do and add to make my oat milk not so slimy, but I don’t bother because it won’t make a difference in the finished cheese. I’ve done it both ways just to be sure. Making vegan cheese isn’t that complicated but after making the oat milk, you need to add a bunch of different cultures to force it to obey your will. I just happen to have a good supply but most cooks try to avoid having bacteria and mold in their pantry.

I have of course tasted my vegan cheese. It will never taste like it came from a goat, but it has a good mouth feel and a slightly salty, earthy taste. I’ve bought commercial vegan cheese and did blind taste tests with friends and they usually voted for mine so I’m thinking it is OK stuff.

Plus, the restaurant uses it on pizza so all the other spices and tastes help make up for the blandness.

This is a very good thing, this means she is pretty serious about moving. I really hope all goes well, I know what a nightmare moving disabled old folks half way across the country can be.

We ran errands today and while we were heading into town I noticed a new sign on a building in a strip mall…The Donut Hole, Mexican Restaurant. I pulled up their online menu and couldn’t find any donuts at all but next week I’m going to grab some tacos when I have lunch with my friend.

Our first stop was at the fancy pet supply store, hubs wants to put VBC on a limited ingredient diet to see if that might stop her from puking all the time. It didn’t work last time we tried, but there are more options now. We didn’t find what we wanted there but money had to be spent and hubs bought some dehydrated gooshy fud and some fud boxes. I spent some time contemplating strapping GG onto this and waving a feather in front of his face.

I asked and there is a small fee to use it but the store owner mostly wants folks to bring their pets and get some movement going in front of the windows.

Sad. I hope kitty goes painlessly. Gets teary eyed for you.

Dinner was Italian Chicken with orzo and sauteed asparagus with garlic and Calabrian Chilies

Awwwwww.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and N.O.S. for the day. Nice! This is Fall like weather for these parts. I need to do candle duty at the church house this mornin’ and since I shall be out and about, I shall make a Sam’s run. I want cinnamon rolls, so maybe Sam’s will have some. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit, just cause. The usual sloth etc. will be accomplished as well.

Nellie what a sweet lookin’ doggo. I would give her many, many skritches. You got yourself a good DIL there.

{{{Shades}}} so sorry about stubborn alley cat. May his passin’ be a peaceful one.

MOOOOOOM appropriate/inappropriate appendages remain crossed re the house sell.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

630am at the new place. 75F/19C now predawn on the way up to 90F/32C. Should be sunny & mildly tropical.

First sleep went well with no toe-stubbing in the unfamiliar layout in the dark. Yesterdays’ movers were great, we got lots of put-together & put-away tasks done smoothly. Made two other trips back & forth, the second to grab the critical Day One odds and ends overlooked in the first one. Convenient that we’re moving a whopping 3-1/2 miles.

Today I get to work, first time in a week-ish. Just zoom down to Honduras & back. Be home too late for dinner together, but at least the morning is leisurely here w her.

We still have lots of moving to do. Our fridge contents, coffee pots, & a small subset of dishes are moved. The rest of the pantry contents and kitchen stuff, from spoons to stand mixers, is still at the old place, and will require significant culling to fit here. Then there’s 2 bookcases of books (down from 4 before we started the cull there).

The basic idea is to take the highest priority stuff, put it away here, and lather, rinse, repeat until the new place is as full as we are comfortable with, then quit. Whatever is left behind, which now includes 6 rooms of furniture plus a patio will be sold, given away, or trashed.

Good to hear of everyone’s adventures the last two days. I can’t fairly comment individually, but congrats on all the cute critters and other daily victories.

53° to start the day here, and we’re not getting out of the 60s. Mowage is definitely on the agenda, and I want to make an Aldi run. Not sure about the rest.

I expect FCD will be touching base with the apt complex to be sure they have all they need. The apt is supposed to be vacated next week - here’s hoping that means we can get this done post-haste. When we get the keys, I’ll take my carpet cleaner there and go over the whole place, unless it’s obvious that they steam-cleaned the carpets.

But that’s for the end of next week.

Can’t believe Sept is almost over - there must be some sort of disturbance in the space-time continuum. Time can’t possibly be rushing by this fast!!!

Happy Firday anyway!

{{{shady}}} I hope that your cat’s passing is peaceful.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasting, dogparked and a load of towels and grocery bags in the wash.

Like Mooooooom, I awoke to autumn temps in the low fifties. I wore a hoodie and jacket to the dog park. Now to finish breakfast and begin Friday chores.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 57 degrees with an expected high of about 68 and partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies. It was really smoky here yesterday, so I had to close my windows up for a bit.

I have had an incredibly busy few days at work, but my weekend finally arrived.

Wednesday, I only worked half a day, picked up my son, and had lunch at a little Italian joint in Tumwater. After that, I took care of some personal appointments.

Yesterday, I worked from home, but hit the ground running, so to speak, and didn’t finish up until 5:30. Lots of problem-solving, year-end accrual budgeting, and returning money to that we don’t need. The rest of work is the same, blah-de-blah-de-blah.

What a grand dame pup, nellie! Give her some skritches from me the next time you see her.

I’m sorry about your kitty, shady.

FCM, we all know there will be some bumps in the road, but on the other hand, this move is really coming together much more quickly and smoothly than I thought it would. I know getting the in-laws to this point was really hard, but just wow, it’s happening!

I don’t have much on the agenda today. I think I’m going to shop for some bedding and a new cross-body purse/bag. My current purse is big and I want something smaller for when I travel.

{{shady}} kitties are so special.

Currently it’s 59 and cloudy. I should visit Ariel but I have a headache. Maybe a few more cups of coffee would help. I guess it’s a thing now that landlords/rental properties want to see that you make three times the price of the rent. Back in the day I rented apartments in small buildings from landlords that lived next-door. How times have changed.

Tis a rousing 46 F here, we’ve apparently entered fall. Got an email from a colleague asking if’n I can build some stuff for an event at Amherst College. More work is good, but I really wish these guys would plan better, the event is on 10/27. Having more than a month to build would be nice. Guess I’ll charge a rush fee.

Morning all. A very pleasant 64F here and not even due to break 80F, so hopefully the AC gets a break. And the 10-day forecast shows nothing in the 90F range for the rest of the month, so I guess I can declare the Ali-bama summer is over. But still have to mow the yard for another couple months…

VanGo, yeah, some folks (I’ve been guilty at times) simply don;t understand that craftsman work takes time, it’s not like you press a button and things appear…a rush fee would be appropriate, IMHO.

FCM, sounds like things are progressing well; hoping that Murphy stays away.

I know this is the 21st century and, as Paul Simon wrote, “Days of miracle and wonder”, but I still am taken aback about casually hopping from one country to another and back like no big thing.

Dang it, swampy, now you’ve got me salivating for cinnamon rolls…

shadie, hope the ol’cat goes peacefully.

JtC, I would love to see GG on that contraption…

OK, am now in need of sustenance, so all y’all take care.

My daughter just told me that her oldest boy is coming over with her on Sunday for the big lumpia cook-off. I haven’t seen him since before he went away to college, probably ten years ago now. Should be fun.

It’s a nice, cloudy, cool day here. The clouds look like they want to rain, but there’s only a 20% chance, so I guess they’re going to hold it in until they get to points east. On Monday, it’s supposed to get back up into the 80s. I wish summer would drift away instead of repeatedly coming back like a drunk looking for a bar fight.

Thanks for the kind remarks about the dog and my sweet DIL. That dog is so endearing! She gets lots of scritches from me. However, she’s got a cagy side: her speciality is stealing the derpy dog’s chew toys when he’s not paying attention. (He’s never paying attention.) She’s not into toys unless they’re someone else’s. And I really did luck out in the DIL department. My son-in-law is a good guy, too. I’m grateful both kids got such good spouses. I sure know that’s not a given.

I’m doing laundry before heading out. I have a get-acquainted appointment with the new corneal specialist. I also have to get to the pharmacy, as I didn’t go yesterday.

100% this.

Taters, you had smoke yesterday? It was clear here. I hope today is un-smoky by you, too.

shady, so sorry about your kitty.

FCM, sounds like the move is going swiftly and smoothly. If there are any speed bumps, you and FCD are adept at handling them. I thought of you when I walked at the waterfront the other day and saw all the boats. I hope you get a chance to enjoy yours again soon.

VanGo, definitely charge that rush fee. Amherst College can afford it. Gosh, I miss that area! I lived in Sunderland and worked in Amherst for a couple years back in primordial times. Take pics of the finished stuff, please. We always love seeing your work.

cookie, glad you get to see your grandson Sunday!
