I just wanted to mention that this morning I not only posted something to the wrong thread, and to the wrong forum, but to the wrong message board.
I’m really glad we can edit our posts.
On the other hand, if your point wasn’t taken the first time, maybe it wasn’t a very good point. You’re probably right to refuse to reiterate or even identify it. People whose arguments stand up to scrutiny would be glad to prove it, rather than playing silly games like yours.

If this pitting is to focus on how stupid Shodan is, we would be remiss if we neglected this recent jewel. He mentions earlier in the thread something he refers to as the Democrats’ “Contract for America”. When called on it, he snarks out a link to this comedy website about the Democrats’ “Contract on America”. He then adds the comment “You’re not even pretending to pay attention here, are you?”
Fucking classic, man.
I assume he was referring to the 100 Hour Plan, practically all of which passed the House of Representatives (but of course most stalled in the Senate). But not only did he not know what it was called, he managed to work up a heapin’ pile of condescension while simultaneously citing a source that’s even more obviously fake than The Onion.
Frankly, I’m amazed he hasn’t managed to drown himself trying to figure out how his toilet works.
Actually, you make a good point. I should have said 100-Hour plan. Although in my own defense, it is clear that Pelosi got the idea from the Republican Contract with America. And, as you mention, most of it went nowhere, despite Democratic control of both Houses of Congress, in contrast to the 100% fulfillment of the Republican Contract with America. And the subsequent fate of the “pay as you go” and earmarks were referenced in my post.
Still and all, you were correct - I gave a bad cite. My bad.

Just so you know, the Contract with America wasn’t 100% implemented. The balanced budget amendment and the term limits amendment failed and the line item veto was found unconstitutional. There were also other bills that were part of the Contract that were vetoed.

Why does anyone still take Shodan seriously? He has nothing but contempt for the majority of posters on this board, whom he considers idiots. He has said that, with a handful of exceptions, the only reasonable posters are moderates or conservatives.
He’s obviously not a good faith participant in these discussions, so why give him the time of day? It’s not like there aren’t intelligent, respectful sources of conservative opinion on this board.
Maybe people are longing for some of that good old Brutus bashing, and have to settle for what they can get?

I’ll just echo what Richard Parker said, except in a style more my own. Shodan is a one-douchebag pony who can be counted on to do nothing but queef out complete Republican spin that is more often than not irrelevant to the topic at hand.
It must be killing him that he can’t tattle to the moderators about people being mean to him in this thread.
