I technically have three pairs of shoes. But one’s a pair of dress shoes I only wear to weddings and funerals. And one’s a pair of work shoes I haven’t worn since I retired. So I essentially wear the same pair of shoes every day.
Female. Six, maybe? I have a new pair of sneakers, a couple pairs of sandals (my favorites are MIA. drat!), a pair of dressy shoes for interviews, and a couple of pairs of boots. I strip off shoes as soon as I get in the house because I’m far happier barefoot.
Female.
57 pairs (this includes everything - dress shoes, sandals, boots, flip flops, running shoes, etc)
This is down from a personal best of 103 pairs.
UT
I was a little low. 78 pairs of shoes and 15 pairs of boots. And I love them all.
Female. 10. 11 if you count the slippers I wear around the house every day.
Female. I currently have 21 pairs of shoes. This is a bit more than usual, because I’ve been suffering from plantar fasciwhatever and have been trying to find shoes that are appropriate for my life and do not hurt my feet. It’s likely I’ll give four or five pairs away soon, because they just aren’t working for me.
Stuff I Wear Constantly:
- leather thong sandals
- boiled wool slippers
- cream moccasin slides
- canvas clogs (Dansko vegan line)
- black open-back Dansko clogs (more in winter than summer)
- red Dansko clogs (last winter, I wore these six days out of seven)
Stuff I Wear With Some Frequency:
- “nice” flip flops
- black “athletic” sandals (similar in style to Teva) - arch support from heaven
- basic black slide sandals
- brown leather slip-ons - sort of like Birkenstocks, but better-looking and more like a mule than a sandal
- old tennis shoes for mowing the lawn
- strappy black sandals
Stuff I Hardly Ever Wear:
- black slingbacks
- black wedge heels
- beaded thong sandals
- black high-heeled boots
- black moccasin slides - these are on the list for the chop
- “good” tennis shoes
- black leather walking shoes
- brown leather walking shoes
- green strappy athletic sandals - they do a weird thing to my toe; also on the list for the chop
We live on a farm and I really need a good pair of wellies. That’ll probably be my next purchase.
Male, 11 pairs.
3x elastic sided work boots (two that go to work, one retired to house duties).
Steel capped, elastic sided work boots.
Shiny black, elastic sided boots (R.M. Williams) - going out shoes.
Trail runners, suede finish - casual shoes - wearing out but no apparent replacement.
Trail runners, heavier duty - actual hiking.
Runners.
Ugg boots for around the house in winter.
Lace up boots, black leather - not worn for years.
Black leather shoes, Docs, obsoleted by the by the RM’s above.
As can be seen, I have a penchant for elastic sided boots. I really should get a pair of thongs (flip-flops, jandals, etc.) for summer. If I got a pair of those, and hurled the last two from the list, which never get worn, I’d have an even 10.
Female, about 30, but I need to thin the herd - I lost a shoe size over the last year and half of my lovely, lovely shoes don’t fit anymore.
I like shoes, I have a tough size to fit, if I find something I like I buy it. They make me happy.
Female, 60 pairs not counting the flip flops or the archives.
Female, I just pulled all my shoes out into a room to count and I was getting tired of doing it (organizing them) but I have about 200 pairs not including shoes I have left at my parents house. My feet grew a little so a few don’t fit and I try to give those away to my sisters or mom or goodwill. I’m into buying espadrilles shoes now and got 3 pairs recently. Anyhow time to stop shoe shopping.
Female, easily 50, possibly 60…I’m not sure how many are up in seasonal bin.
Male. Uh…three? But one of those is a pair of dress shoes I’ve worn exactly once. If I have any old-but-usable shoes hiding in the basement somewhere, it might be five or six.
Female. Let’s see…
2 pairs of sandals
2 pairs of boots
2 pairs of pumps
3 pairs of sneakers
1 pair of heels
1 pair of thongs
So 11 pairs all together.
Male, 1 pair.
I hope somebody is gonna graph this at the end
Guy and 19 pairs
This includes hiking boots, golf shoes, running shoes, walking shoes, sandals, casual and dress shoes in black and brown
I would have many fewer but since I take a US size 12 and I cannot get my size in Japan. I go back to the States every year to 18 months and stock up.
Male.
one pair hiking boots (also see duty as winter footwear)
one pair steel toed rubber boots (for working around the property)
until last night I had one pair of thrice dog chewed runners but as I’m starting the exercise portion of my cardio-rehab program this morning, I splurged on a nice pair of New Balance cross trainers.
The dogs got my only dress shoes over the winter and I have yet to replace them.
Male.
one pair of winter boots
two pairs of shoes
one pair of sandals
toto: 4
Heh. I’m a UK size 13.5 (US 14.5) but a very narrow fitting - an A or B where ‘narrow’ at that size is F, G, or worse - and I just cannot find shoes that fit.
Male.
Probably about 10, though I no longer wear about half of them.
I think people are trying to differentiate between “shoes I own out of necessity”, “shoes I actively wear”, etc.
For example, I didn’t count my snow boots in my tally because, while functional, they’re not in my rotation of shoes that I wear because they complete an outfit. Likewise, I have a couple of pairs of dollar-store flipflops that I didn’t count, because I only ever wear them to give myself pedicures or maybe to take the trash out. I couldn’t even comfortably walk a block in them. So, my number may be different than that of someone who came into my house and counted everything they deemed footwear.
Also, I think people (myself included) just like qualifying their answers. It allows us to talk more about the things we have and why we view or use them a certain way.
