Latest report is that the gunman has been “neutralized”, but no details. Still searching the mall to make sure there’s not another shooter. Two dead in first reports. The guy was using an AR-15 semi-auto rifle and fired at least 60 rounds.
In before Fox News says this never would have happened if everyone else had had AR-15s too.
The guy was wearing a hockey mask and paintball armor, apparently. Sheriff’s department will give another update at 5:30 Pacific time.
The shooter has been killed. Two confirmed dead, one in the hospital.

Local media peppering the sheriff with questions the sheriff said he cannot/will not answer right now. Just amazed when reporters are told directly by the sheriff what will not be given to them right now, they still ask the same questions.
Right now they’re interviewing the mall’s Santa, who says he hit the floor and crawled to safety. No question as to who was naughty or nice today, I guess.
I’m sure the kids are traumatized more by Santa than the shooter.
Santa was actually going above and beyond to calm down people with his interview.
They’re saying now that the shooter killed himself. No shots fired by law enforcement in the mall.
60 shots and only two victims, one maybe the shooter himself? What a miserable spree killing!
Ok, I found this NBC story saying 3 dead including the shooter, and one or more people wounded.
A story in this morning’s paper related how the shooter turned toward a food court worker (a young woman), pointed the gun at her and fired. And missed. One lucky person.
If everyone had just moved out of Oregon like I did a few years ago, this never would have happened. Such a senseless waste of life
