Thanks, got the text from Nats. Also, some media outlets are identifying the shooter as a recently fired contractor. Also, they have found one of the other two people of interests and eliminated him as a suspect. They are apparently still looking for one more person to talk to, but it sounds likely that there was a single shooter.
It sounds like the shooter was carrying someone else’s ID. That’s the same thing that happened in the Newtown shooting.
Damn that is a huge number. That’s crazy!
One of my coworks is quoting a project for somebody at the Navel Yards. We told him, only sorta joking, that he should e-mail the customer to find out if he’s still alive…
Maybe I should ask the guy at work that says the Newtown massacre didn’t happen if this one is faked too.
My heart goes out to anyone who lost a loved one today and anyone to suffering from what happened. I hate to think that people will turn this into politics but it’s inevitable.
Alex Jones is already floating the notion that the shooting is a false flag operation to distract us from Syria and Obama’s gun-grabbing agenda.
Indeed one of the first tweets I saw this morning took a swipe at gun control efforts.
I googled US Naval Yard fake and got a youtube video, part of a news report where the reporter didn’t know he was on and was laughing about something. This is being presented as absolute evidence that the whole thing was another Zionist plot to take away all our guns so we can attack Syria. Or some such thing, I could only read a few comments before I got sick.
It’s kind of an unusual picture of the shooter that’s emerging. African-American guy from Brooklyn quits the Navy, moves to Texas, integrates into the Thai community, learns their language, worships at their temple… Granted, the internal turmoil, aggression, and apparent depression are sadly recognizable, but some of the surface details are surprising.
Somehow, we have reached the point where, after every shooting, that sort of pre-emptive screaming starts even before anyone on the gun-control side starts beating their drum.
A Buddhist did this?!

Not “somehow”. The usual reaction from both sides is predetermined. It’s based on the historic reaction of both sides. It shouldn’t be all that surprising.
People will demand more gun-free zones.
People will demand more armed citizens.
People will continue to do nothing but “talk” about the mental health issues of a person who would deliberately plan to murder others with bombs and guns.
