Shop class no no’s Shorts, long hair and giant prosthetic boobs?

@discobot quote

Surprisingly apt. Let it be known, @discobot supports trans rights.

Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help.

Thank you for offering, @discobot, but you’ve already done enough.

You aren’t going to get implants that size in the U.S., sorry.

Perhaps if you’re a porn star.

you would have to out of the country, maybe Brazil, to get something even close.

@discobot your opinion please?

Did that actually sound like some kind of burn, in your head? Because I’m just LOLing.

And yet you expect us to believe you when you tell us someone (unidentified) told you something (unclear) and therefore the story is true. Seriously?

I don’t care either way if it’s fake or not. Unlike some posters, it would not surprise me in the slightest that a transwoman might choose a hyper-exaggerated expression of femininity - not every trans person is well-adjusted in their gender conceptions or striving just to fit in.

What I was questioning was @Atamasama’s naivete in trusting - no, privileging - the mere say-so of one of the Board’s most vocal transphobes on … well, anything to do with trans issues. Happy to be proved wrong should they bring the receipts, though.

Or, at least exaggerated by those in the “we don’t want this teaching our kids” camp.

Business casual attire is appropriate. If she wants to teach adults in that ridiculous costume I’m sure you can come up with an appropriate class that would welcome her.

^^ Case in point (at least it was prior to being edited).

We have no way of knowing if this is her regular attire or what. Perhaps, as I alluded to earlier, this person lost a bet. Or that is literally a costume for whatever reason.

Yeah, it’s possible that she is wearing that outfit every day to class. It’s also possible she isn’t. Or that the photos were edited to add in the enormous nipples. We really don’t know. I, for one, am extremely frustrated that @RickJay repeats “the story is true as reported” without specifying what that means, since I think the reporting is pretty muddled.

Whether or not the story is true or not, a person doing this is not outside the range of possible behaviors. In fact, I would bet many of us have seen examples in our own lives of people who express their gender in ways which are very much at the edges of gender expression. For example, I’ve seen people walking downtown who are nude except for a tiny g-string. This is their normal way of dressing and not something they are doing for a joke. I’ve also seen people in public with giant, augmented breasts who dress in very revealing ways. Growing up in the 70’s, I can remember ads for bras with erect nipples attached to them. So having someone wear giant, prosthetic breasts with large, erect nipples seems like something some people would do. If this person wasn’t a teacher, I would doubt we would have heard anything about it. And if they were a cis-women, we wouldn’t have heard anything about it. It’s because it’s both a trans issue and a sexual(* see note below) issue around kids that the story has reached us. It’s the same reason we don’t have national stories about people in our local community who have gender expression on the edges of behavior.

I think the story presents an interesting situation that can create some useful discussions around gender expression in general and gender expression as part of transgender issues. Are there limits on a person’s gender expression? Do cis individuals have more limits on that expression than trans individuals? Can people express their gender in non-sterotypical ways? Does it matter if the person is in an environment which has influence over children? I think it’s useful to discuss these questions in a forum like this so we are better prepared when the situation happens in our own community that we can influence it. If this was a teacher in our district, coworker, neighbor, etc., it would be beneficial to have already worked through many of these questions to understand our own positions as well as those in the general community. Even if you understand your position well, getting a feel of what other people think about them will help figure out how to come up with workable solutions.

(*) By sexual issue I’m speaking in general since large breasts and erect nipples can be a part of sexual desires and fetishes. I am absolutely not saying that the person in the OP is doing this as a sexual fetish. Rather,since there is an overlap between breasts as gender expression and breasts as sexual fetish, it’s not obvious where this is on that spectrum.

It just occurred to me that I’ve seen such prosthetics before.

My apologies. I’m on some strong painkillers right now and wasn’t thinking.
