Yes, yes, I’m the one that keeps blathering on about short hair. Sorry about that.
At first I really liked it. In fact, last week, I loved it; could not have been happier. All of the sudden this week, it looks like crap. It’s only been a month (exactly on Friday) since I got it cut. My hair does not grow particularly fast but I’m wondering if, when it’s this short, 1/16 of an inch could matter. Do I need a haircut already? Could this be the problem?
Yep, it grows pretty durned fast. I went from cutting mine myself once a year to going to the salon once a month.
Some styles ‘last’ longer than others, though - I’ve gone without a haircut for two months now and it’s only starting to look bad. Ask your hairdresser.
Well, I’ve heard that hair grows about half an inch per month (for the average person). I tried googling “hair growth”, but got tons and tons of hits for “hair growth” products like Rogaine.
I have short hair (about 1-2 inches long), and I cannot go longer than two months without a haircut. One month is ideal. My mother’s hair is slightly shorter, and she gets her hair cut every 3-4 weeks.
WOW. I am so surprised (but relieved!). I was one of those people who got my hair trimmed 2x a year, if that. Not that it’s a huge deal, but I guess I should have asked about “upkeep” before chopping!
Within a few hair cuts, you’ll learn to find one that does good things as it grows out a bit. With a short hair cut, you always have to look to the future and your hair will always be slightly different than it was the week before.
I cut mine about once every five weeks. Usually there is at least a couple weeks where it is doing really cool stuff and looks better than it ever did before and one week where I hate it.
It might be good to explore the world of hairclips, scarves and headbands to get you through that one week if you don’t want to be dilligent about getting your hair trimmed often.
