Haircut frequency

I have the unfortunate (or furtunate, depending upon your POV) trait of having very thick, fast-growing hair. Both sides of my family have (or had) tons of thick hair. I can’t tell you the number of times women AND men have told me they wished they had my hair (I’m a guy, BTW). When I was a kid (up to age 10 or so), my hair was blond and straight as a board. After that, ot started to get “wavy”. If I let it get long enough, I’ll a huge tsunami going at an angle across my head. The back will only grow so long before it starts to curl up on itself. I usually comb it straight back (no chemicals) and I usually end up with, what I call, TV preacher hair. A virtual helmet o’ hair. After much badgering from my wife, I will get it cut every 8-10 weeks or so. Weird thing is how many people, co-workers, customers at my worplace, feel it necessary to make comments about my hair!!! Stuff like: “Man, when are you going to get a haircut” and so forth. I wouldn’t dare go up to a balding guy and say “Man, haven’t you ever heard of Rogaine?”.

When I go the “hair stylist” (barbers are getting harder to find!) I will have them use a #2 attachment on the clippers and cut my hair all one lenghth. So I go from TV preacher to long term prison inmate in one (or more) fell swoop (or swoops).

Guys, what’s your frequency (Kenneth)?

I get my hair cut short, but I’ve decided the #4 blade on top and the #2 on the side is a little severe. (It makes me look like “Mr. Clean Marine”.) I still get it cut fairly short, but not so much that I don’t fit in with society. Then I let it grow until I can’t stand it any more; usually 4-6 months. I get rather shaggy. Hey. I don’t have a girlfriend; I’m planning to move, so I shouldn’t really get one; and I don’t have to see myself. I’ll probably keep my hair cut after I move and get settled in. Actually, a “certain someone” likes longer hair on men. Must be because she was in the army.

(BTW: My hair gets wavy when it gets long. It has ever since I was a kid. I hate that, but women think it’s cute. Go figure.)

I’m not a guy, but I cut my hair very short over a year ago–about three months before my HS graduation. I upkept it pretty well, getting a trim every three weeks to keep it looking nice, but I went to college in ButtFuckingEgypt, North Carolina, and would get my hair cut even less because I didn’t feel like mooching a ride off someone to go into town. When I’d come home (which was probably more often than the average college freshman), I’d usually be too busy to get my hair cut, so it’s grown out quite a bit (a little past my chin).

I also get my hair cut very short and let it grow until I can’t take it anymore. I try to go 6 months but my hair grows so fast that 4 months is usually all I can wait. I am glad to see that I am not alone.

My wife’s comment on men sharing my hair philosophy is that they must be as weird as me.

I also have very thick hair. If I let it grow, it looks like a haystack. Course and straight up. Awful.

So, about every 2 weeks, I go after it with the clippers. I use a 0 guard (yes, that’s right) on the back and sides, then blend upwards until I get to about a 1.5 or 2 on top. I might leave it a little longer in front. Regardless, I have to attack with a vengenace using the thinning shears, else the haystack comes back too soon.

It’s naturally resonant at 120hz, but I have it ported at 40hz.
