Should Alan Grayson apologize for his "die quickly" remarks?

I’d want to talk to some of his sexual partners before I gave him a medal for his prowess in bed.

Backing down would NOT be the right thing to do. Since the Republicans have seen fit to attack any attempts at reform with ridiculous hyperbole, it’s only fair that they should get a taste of their own medicine and be forced to clarify their position. Enough of this mincing, timid debate. Time to put everything on the table.

The comparison to “death panels” is baloney. That was a fabrication. Grayson’s charaterization was not. If Reoublicans don’t want to be called on the callousness of their policies, they need to change them.

Exactly.

It breaks my heart that people such as John Mace are offended that he Grayson doesn’t think that the proper response to something unpleasant is to bend over and take it. But, the Democrats spent eight years of Bush bending over for the GOP - and they’ve kept it up for another nine months.

Perhaps, instead of expecting the Democrats to remain above the fray to show their moral worthiness to govern, the John Maces of the world should start demanding that those who spend all of their political face time Death Paneling the public STOP IT.

Nah, it’s the mean Democrats that should change. Somehow it’s always their fault.

Oh no, Democrat musters up 1/1000th of the vitriole of Republicans! He should be ashamed of hisself.

What a crock. Where did I say I was offended? I’m not a Republican nor a Congresscritter. And if you want to debate what Republicans should do, open a thread about that. This thread is about a particular Democrat. And note that I did specifically say both sides needed to quit doing this crap.

I’ve seen enough of your posts over the years to know your views just fine, thanks.

This isn’t about debating what Republicans should do, and I never claimed it was. You’re just taking a pathetic attempt at a side-step. You want to pretend what Grayson did was done in a vacuum? Because that is really the only way to convince yourself it was unjustified.

He had his allotted five minutes and he used half of that to point out the ridiculous hypocrisy of the other side. Oh noes! However will the republic survive?

You seem to think that the way to get things done is to just bend over and keep quiet. I disagree and find that way of thinking just a milquetoast way of asking for more abuse.

What’s really pathetic is when it happens again and again, and then some people are just so surprised when it happens again. Who could have predicted?

-Joe

Posibly because you’re not invested in your own health care and let others dictate it to you? I’ve called my doctor and switched specialists because they were backed up.

When I had a kidney stone it was less than 2 weeks between the first twinge of pain and the surgical removal of the stones. In that time I went to the emergency room once, Saw my family doctor twice and the surgeon who removed them twice. I was X-rayed less than hr after arriving at the emergency room and that was followed up by an MRI in less than an hour. 2 weeks, done. Back to work paying taxes.

I had a close friend who, upon being seen for chest pains had heart by-pass surgery within days of diagnosis. Done.

I know people on welfare who have had chemotherapy and related treatments for cancer. No waiting. Done.

The problem has never been timely medical treatment, we have the doctors and facilities in the US for this. The problem(s) are people who are uninsured because: they are near poor, have pre-existing conditions, or choose not to spend the money. For those who choose not to spend the money they will be forced by law to buy the insurance. That leaves the near-poor and people with pre-existing conditions. THAT is the insurance gap which needs to be adressed.

Grayson Campaign: We’ve Raised Between $125k-$150k Since Yesterday

In the mode of Wilson, this influx of cash obviates any need for Grayson to take any further action on the matter. Not that there was any need in the first place, but now he’s fully covered under GOP rules.

Translucent Daydream (and everyone else), please recall that we discourage “Calls to Action” and we prohibit the posting of names and addresses.

Merijeek, I am pretty sure that you misread John Mace’s intentions. However, even had you read them correctly, we really don’t need that level of vitriol in this thread.

It is not stupid (that’s just the difference, you see, as far as Sarah Palin comparisons go), and why shouldn’t it be offensive?

Sure we do! The Dems need to grow a pair and step up the attacks on all fronts. Drag down the Repubs however necessary. Public lynching would not be out of line. :stuck_out_tongue:

The value of health care is measured in time.
No amount of money can compensate for a delay.

You have your health care problems in the UK, we have ours in the US. They are different problems.

 We have a necromancer in Congress!

:dubious: It is not stupid, nor is it inaccurate, to say the Pubs in Congress are looking at this issue from the same POV as the health-insurance beancounters who own them.

Yup. And ours are worse. It sure is a good thing that Stephen Hawking wasn’t born, raised, and lived nearly his entire life in the UK, or else he would have been subjected to waiting lists for his medical treatments. After all, in the US, all medical treatment is available instantly.

As are several Dems! (Baucus, anyone?)

That is quite breathtaking in its arrogance and assumption. I have Kaiser, and that was the FIRST appointment available to me in the follow-up mammogram clinics that are available in the Denver metro area.

Look, I understand that the concept that your experience isn’t universal is tough for you to grasp. The fact of the matter is that this country’s health care involves waiting, as does health care in other countries, even though the reasons for the wait may be different. My original point (which you sidestepped in your insulting statement about my lack of investment in my own healthcare) was that waiting times exist in this utopian capitalist society of America. Those waiting times are not limited to those godless commie socialist systems that we don’t want to be like.

Yeah, Baucus, the turd.

As intriguing as a Weiner-Grayson ticket may seem, and though Alan Grayson may currently hail from Florida, as a political realist I have to note that it’s too New York and, to quote Mel Brooks, too Jewish. I’m more for a statesmanlike goy at the top of the ticket with Grayson as a Cheneyesque, attack-dog VP.
