Should I watch season 2 of The Fall?

I watched the first season (or series, if you prefer!) on Netflix and remember liking it quite a bit. But I don’t remember anything specific about it at all, except that it stars Gillian Anderson as a police detective.

I’d prefer not to rewatch season 1. Is season 2 as good? Can I jump into it and hopefully be reminded about what was important from season 1?

I enjoyed (well, that’s maybe not the right word given the subject matter) series 2. It’s a direct continuation of series 1 though, so I’d refresh your memory with a read of the plot synopses on wikipedia, if not a rewatch.

I’ve starting watching season 2. They do a good job of getting you up to speed (if “speed” is an appropriate term; the show has a deliberately slow pace).

Jump in.

Just finished watching it. Definitely worthwhile. There’s a lot going on throughout, and the ending is nicely ambiguous.

We just finished both seasons and anyone who enjoys murder mysteries/police procedurals will love this.

The characters are very well developed, the slow pacing makes for a slowly building creepy experience — and as a bonus in that department, the bad guy is soon to open as the star of the movie version of the rapey* Fifty Shades of Gray*.

We watched Season 2 without re watching the first season, and it all came back pretty quickly. You shouldn’t have a problem.

Of course since the original post was three weeks ago, I’m sure the OP has already finished Season 2.

Agree it’s two halves of one season, really.

Fwiw, I though the first half was more interesting becaesu he was at his most ‘active’. You could almost say the genre itself changes for the second half.

tbf, it wouldn’t kill you to rewatch, it’s high quality stuff.

Just finished watching both seasons and I didn’t want to start a new thread.
I liked it, though the second season was very predictable.
The one thing that struck me was the reveal of how twisted and damaged Gillian Anderson’s character was. At the beginning you thought she was very liberated, admirably so, but by the end you could tell she was facing compulsions as self-destructive as the killer’s were other-destructive.

Heads up, S3 began on the BBC last week … God, is Stella damaged …

I felt it was badly made, generally, and I watched both seasons. The villain(dude from 50 shades, I think) is not a good actor at all.

I might…might check out season 3 if I need something.

While I’ve watched the first two seasons and will watch the third, I had more of a problem with Gillian Anderson than Jamie Dornan. While he’s reasonably plausible as an emotionally damaged (so, wooden) killer, I don’t know if I believe that a detective channeling Margaret Thatcher is believably seductive.

Is this the final season? I can’t take any more long drawn out teasing regarding him getting caught. Was he caught at the end of season 2? I don’t even remember anymore.

Let’s just say the murderer ends up in the arms of the law.

Looking forward to season 3 when it comes to Netflix later this month, though I have trouble imagining where they can go with it, the way season 2 ended.

tbh, it was always about more than ‘the case’. We have no idea why Stella is the way she is, for example. Also, I suspect we’ve only scraped the surface of Spector’s power over women, well heterosexual women anyway.

I liked the start of S3. I haven’t seen the second hour yet but i believe it has a big twist.

S3, E3 - imo, it’s gone up a level; this was quickest/possibly best hour of tv drama this year, for me.
