See, I made a staybusk out of whale baleen for a class project. It’s a thing that you stick inside a corset to improve your posture even more.
Pros:
-It would be a pretty cool stunt
-It would demonstrate that it actually works
-I’d get to wear my corset
Cons:
-I’d be exposing a lot of skin
-It’s black leather
-It’s really cold outside
-It’s a two-hour class, and then I’d have two hours of work. That’s a long time to be sitting around in a corset.
Dress how you want to dress. Who cares what people think? Since you asked, you must want to so that’s the bottom line. But what will you wear for bottoms?
Only because if people saw it, they’d think, “Seriously? This is what we’re fighting for? So not worth it.” Then drop their weapons and trudge on home.
Giant Spongess, maybe just a warm sweater, or even a regular outfit on over top of it? People used to wear corsets all the time, you just didn’t see them. Heck, I still see them sold in the Sears catalogue, last time I looked - granted, they’re not leather, but they’re there.
I have one similar to yours, but I didn’t make it myself, and it has a couple of (useless) shoulder straps on it. I wore it to a wedding of all places. Oh, the scandal. Anyway, I brought a cashmere sweater to cover up when I got cold. While it was just chilly, I kept a dark blue lace shawl over my shoulders (the kind that just looks like an oversized scarf).
Dammit, now I wish I’d bought the corset I wanted to get a few weeks back- maybe it will still be there next time I’m in town.
Anyway, it might look cute with a jean jacket. Give it a try and see.
I’d wear it, then bring something to change into. I tried wearing one out one night, it was exhausting. I wasn’t even doing anything particularly exhaustive either, just a night out. Bring a jacket and an extra shirt. (Don’t forget to bring a bra…)
Corsets are awesome, btw. Props to you for making your own, I have two myself. Didn’t make them, but I let the nice folks at Vollers craft me one red and black one, and one ivory one with black lace. Very awesome.
They were also originally meant to have something be worn under it - they’re not supposed to touch the bare skin. Yes, that’s how fasionable fetish-istas wear them now but that’s not how they were originally intended to be worn.
I can’t get the picture to load but perhaps it would look fine to wear a shirt under it. Or a sweater over it.
Four hours should be no problem at all in a corset! If it’s uncomfortable, you are probably lacing it wrong or it doesn’t fit correctly.
