-at least that’s what several Brit acquaintances have told me. Maybe they’re just trying to shock us delicate Mediterranean types who shower daily.
My preference? Morning, but will return for midday and evening showers if it’s really scorchio.

A morning shower is a necessity for me. My hair is long, thick, and curly, and it looks matted after I’ve slept on it. I’ll shower again at night if I feel dirty, but that’s usually only in the summer.
Morning, afternoon, evening…depends on what’s going on.
Years ago, when I had to be at work at 5am, I showered the night before. Now, two days a week I work at a horse ranch 8am - 1pm. I shower when I get home at like 1:30. The next morning if I’m going somewhere I’ll shower, but if not I might wait until the evening. Really, it’s just whenever I need it.
My hair hates hairdryers. Since it’s a pain to walk around with drippy hair for several hours (it takes forever to dry), it’s easier to wash it at night. Plus, in the winter, going outside with wet hair is a definite no-no- I had mine turn to icicles a few weeks back…
That’s funny, my hair won’t behave unless I sleep on it wet.
Yep, if I’d like for my skin to be dried out and flakey despite moisturizer by the time I put on makeup and for my hair to wet for a couple hours before drying frizzily, I shower in the morning. Otherwise I shower at night (usually at least an hour before bed so my hair’s not wet enough to soak the pillow case) which means dry hair by morning and less damage to skin that’s too damn fragile. Have you ever read Saint Maybe by Anne Tyler? She describes a minor character as having “that hurt looking skin common to redheads.” She speaks truth.
Sweating at night is only an issue if it’s particularly warm…and this is New England. It’s only warm at night in July and August or when someone jacks the heat up to 75F when I’m covered up expecting it to be 10+ degrees cooler.
If my name were Grossbottom, I’d shower a lot too.
I take a shower before usually because I like to take a leisurely time and it relaxes me. I don’t have a problem with being awake when I first get up.
Of course being that I work most of my time in an ER with varying shifts, sometimes my shower before bed is at 8am.

You don’t bathe twice a day?

Evening. I take baths more than showers, but in either case, I find it very relaxing. Maybe I’m just self conditioned after all these years of shower then sleep, but NOTHING makes me want to get back in bed in the morning (especially a cold morning) quite like taking a shower.
I know, I’m wierd.
I shower in the afternoon. You get back from work/school, you’re hot, you’re tired… shower time! I’m more tired in the afternoon than the morning so I guess it wakes me up too. Does nobody else do this?
Although I generally shower once a day in the morning, I am of the opinion that one should shower whenever one feels grotty enough or feels so inclined.
So, one should shower whenever the fancy takes them, yes?
All depends.
I like to shower 2x day. Morning and evening. The morning shower wakes me up, and if I got laid at night/morning, I dont go to work [yay, now i finally have a job] smelling like a whorehouse. I shower in the evening and it relaxes me, and cleans off any dirt/sweat fom the day. I only wash my hair every 2nd or 3d day and brush it to distribute the oils properly along the hair shaft.
When I wasnt working, it tended to just be evening showers to conserve money. Fuel oil is expensive and a single income was barely enough to pay all the bills and actually eat every month. Wash clothes can go a long way to clean ones body if used properly …
I’m a BIG, hairy, sweaty, white guy.
In a (mild) Australian winter, then it’s once and in the morning, with evening showers as per my social obligations.
In summer, twice, or even three times.
When I travel in SE Asia, up to five times per day. It can get to the point where the weather is so oppressive and uncomfortable that showering moves from being a chore to a form of recreation.
Normally just in the evening, but also in the morning as needed. I have extremely dry skin and have to fully moisterize after a shower. Since I’m not a morning person AT ALL I try to do it at night instead.
In that spirit, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The toilet paper goes up and over.
As far as showers, in the morning. My short hair is all over the place after I sleep and a good wash and condition settles it down. And I feel oogy after sleeping; I drool and oil and stew in my own juices so I need to rinse all that off in the morning.
I usually shower in the afternoons, after work/working out but before class.
bing! bing! bing! Correct answer! Give that man a ceegar.
