Shouldn't we discourage "blogging" here?

I’m not complaining because it’s easy enough to not click threads that don’t interest me. That said though, I wonder why Siam sam gets away with his blogging here.
There’s rioting in our streets. (part freaking three) In this thread, Sam has 97 posts out of a total of 154 in the thread. Here

At what point should one get a blog?

When the eggs hatch?

ETA: I’ve never read the thread but I’m amused it’s still going.

I think if **Sam **were posting about what he had been seeing at the Boston Martathon or World Trade Center no one would be complaining.

I’ve seen plenty of threads that were almost as monologish on topics that were genuinely stupid, so I’ve no problem with what Sam is doing, especially since he doesn’t sound like someone with a pet-issue obsession. Just think of it as an “Ask the person witnessing urban chaos” thread.

I don’t think he’s blogging. He doesn’t attempt to do this all the time. Many of the Teeming Millions have had ringside seats at, um, interesting events and it’s worthwhile to hear what they have to say.

If he was doing this on every post he made every day, you might have a complaint but I don’t see this happening.

You are not compelled to read that thread.

I would view the kind of “blogging” we want to avoid as posting almost continuous commentary about the minutiae of one’s personal life, and about things of little interest to anyone else. Siam Sam is intermittently providing comments on the political situation in his country, which I think is of interest to other posters besides himself. I don’t see those threads as a problem.

I’m glad the OP isn’t complaining. I’d hate to see what his complaining would look like if he ever had a mind to do it.

The OP has long had a problem with me, and this is not his first thread bemoaning how I lower the quality of his life, as can be seen here. He seems to be quite the little post counter. I guess we all need a hobby.

Are you keeping track of how he’s keeping track? What are you, some kind of obsessed track-stalker?

He’s just getting to know you— getting to know all about you.

I apologize if I offended you. FWIW, I think you’re good people. This will be my last thread about your posting habits.
