Show me web sites that are entertaining to READ!

Hi, this is my first thread here. I really like reading good internet columnists, but I can’t find very many in the genre that I appreciate (witty, funny & sarcastic, but not 100% fluff). Since most of you seem pretty well read, I turn to the dopers to lead me in the right direction.

Here are some examples of what I read now:

http://lileks.com -James Lileks
http://irritus.org -Irritus (kind of irregular updates)
http://myboot.com -My Boot (really irregular updates)
http://somethingawful.com- Somethingawful.com (not my favorite, but I knew someone would mention it)

I’m dying to find some other decent writers. Any help?

Yeah–I like Lileks too. If you have LOTS of time on your hands (I wish I did), try UNAMERICAN. Welcome to the boards!

The archives of the skeptical inquirer are some of the most interesting reading I have found on the net. I print out the articles and read them on the bus. A lot of them are long, 5-6 pages without the formating. I have been reading this site almost every day for over a month and still haven’t gotten through the whole archive. Not exactly funny but damn intresting.

If you want a good clean laugh, you can check out Dave Berry’s Archive

News of the weird weekly addition is a great read!

Articles by Lore Sjöberg are indespensable.

The acts of Gord are lots of fun!

These 5 alone should keep you out of trouble for a while! Happy reading, and WELCOME!

I completely forgot about Gord!

Don’t forget Unca Cecil!

I’d like to think mine is somewhat entertaining, but I’m probably wrong.

They don’t update these all that often, but I like:cockeyed.com and the Sneeze. The Sneeze

I love that site! Craig needs to start making some updates though!

www.fark.com This place is a riot. The message board there is like a Bizarro-world version of SDMB (I’m sure Somethingawful’s message board is like this too, but I wouldn’t know because they CHARGE YOU TO USE IT!)

Don’t get me wrong, I really like Somethingawful. Their game reviews, and more specifically, hentai game reviews and porno movie reviews are hysterical.

www.jabootu.net has really funny movie reviews.

If you’re at all into comic books, comic strips or animation, I recommend Don Markstein’s Toonopedia. It usually has several new entries per week, and quite interesting to read about the stories behind these characters. And if you’ve never seen it until now, then there’s over 700 existing entries to occupy your time with.

Welcome to the board
Try Whatever Dude . This guys is just plain caustic on each and everything!!
Also, try this if you have time. Not any reading, but a nice way to pass time boohbah zone
Enjoy

http://howlingatthemoon.blog-city.com/ - a must-read. Written by my old internet acquaintance. Consistently hilarious, as the guy definitely has a way with the English language. I recommend starting with his observations about the libertarians, furries, pandas and the importance of having anal sex with Robin Williams.

http://www.portalofevil.com - like Something Awful, but with free forums, more links and less it’s-funny-because-we-write-it columnisizing.

http://www.notmydesk.com/

This guy hates temping. I love his articles! He has a new site now but I don’t like it nearly as well.

A lot of Seanbaby’s stuff is pretty lame, but his section on the Superfriends is priceless. I also recommend
Television Without Pity for all your entertainment needs. You don’t even need to actually watch television.

Related to this question, I once saw a link on this board to a series of posts (on some other message board) about the adventures of someone working in a porno video store. Does anyone have a link to it? It was pretty funny, and interesting too, if I remember correctly.

Celiberal

These people are funny as hell. From reading the message board I’m convinced they are a collection of KKK wannabes and lunatic asylum escapees.

I’m hooked on The Diary of V. If you decide to read it, start in the archives and read it from the beginning - 1997. New episodes come out every Friday.

This is hilarious!! Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About Mil actually has a book out now with the same title.
This is the page intro:

Nothing keeps a relationship on its toes so much as lively debate. Fortunate, then, that my girlfriend and I agree on absolutely nothing. At all.

This is the intro:

Combine utter, polar disagreement on everything, ever, with the fact that I am a text-book Only Child, and she is a violent psychopath, and we’re warming up. Then factor in my being English while she is German, which not only makes each one of us personally and absolutely responsible for the history, and the social and cultural mores of our respective countries, but also opens up a whole field of sub-arguments grounded in grammatical and semantic disputes and, well, just try saying anything and walking away.

The Baen Free Library - Free Science Fiction novellas from a big name SF publisher

Reason Online - The webpage of Reason Magazine, a progressive/libertarian opinion rag which manages to maintain a tempered, objective stance in these days of political fanaticism.

Defective Yeti Weblog - A kinda-lefty-but-usually-not-political humor columnist has a pretty good website.

Landover Baptist - The Onion of religion. Biting satire… but wonderfully subtle.

One of my favorites. Comedy gold!

Something simple, quick, and sometimes sick.

www.bored.com

I’ll toss in a couple.

If you like this sort of stuff, The Crime Library can provide some entertaining hours.

And the Drudge Report is a good stop as well. While many of our board lefties are going ick-ick-ick, frankly, Drudge himself doesn’t really write that much. He does try to post headlines that might stir controversy, and he attempts to skewer the right as well as the left.

That’s not why you’d want to go there, though.

Despite his penchant for headlines to get the juices flowing, his site will clue you in to the one or two major headlines of the day, and, while that’s OK, you can get that elsewhere.

But it’s a great links page. The wire services are linked as well as many, many periodicals and columnists, liberal, conservative and even a few otherwise.

Incubus, I think you meant www.jabootu.com.
