Show Me Your Blog!

Awww, stop it.

Seriously, thanks. That’s very nice of you to say.

I haven’t had a chance to go through the blogs yet, but I’m going to, and when I do, oh you guys are in trouble.

Also, hooray for new SDMB MySpace friends!

It’s just a myspace blog, but I update it semi-regularly with ramblings about my life. Here ya go if you’re interested.
My Blog

I’m here: http://juliecarter.blogspot.com

I talk about poetry a lot, though, so be warned.

First off, Eve, I’m sorry that I somehow didn’t list you in all my groups. I think I had just been going by the journals I pulled up one at a time and since I was l was already working on yours, I must have forgot. Mea culpa. We should all be so eloquent no matter where we blog.

*NoPretentiousCodename – Hmmm. Incredibly cute (but alas, too young and undoubtedly out of my league even if your weren’t :frowning: ) in a lab coat, hip coming up with “Danarchism” and a House fan. No wonder you’re in a relationship. ::: swoon :::

*KJ – A few things. First, your little walking fellow makes me think of the hamsters that drive this place. Second, I know what the giant ass black and white picture is of, but I agree that it looks obscene anyway. Yup. Thirdly, I adore your decorating! And no, it’s not because I have lights up in my bedroom too. Not at all.

*Alias – You have Monty Python! I’m sure some was there on others, but if so, I didn’t see it. Then you taught me (still fighting ignorance, I see) what emetophobia is and although I don’t have that, I’m assuming that it’s got to be a very painful condition to circumvent.

*jsgoddess – Ok, I’ve been seeing NaNoWriMo discussed here on the boards forever. However, since I can disseminate the gist, I really don’t understand the overall push. Would you mind explaining it to me, in really small words that a non-writer can grasp? Merci’.
I do believe I’ve caught back up now. If someone has checked mine out (it’s due back within two weeks, doncha know), I truly appreciate it. Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing if anyone did because I didn’t receive any comments. But to soothe my insecure heart, I’m going to pretend that everyone came and just looooooooooved it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Easy peasy. Write 50,000 words of a novel during the month of November.

Hasn’t been updated in a couple of weeks, but here you go. This is self-designed, not a standardized blog site thing, so feel free to give me shit about it being ugly or anything.

Yeah, I’m kind of in overload myself. I might have a Myspace hangover.

I just moved out of MySpace because it was too darn Mac-unfriendly, and into LiveJournal (transferred all my MySpace entries, too). I don’t update too often.

Aw, two more! Goodie!!

Not A Tame Lion – There’s so much to comment on here. First, I read the name of your blog as "Crescent & Crossbows*" and I wondered if the whole thing wasn’t about tools after all. Then I felt you’ve got it all; baseball, South Park, shows for Halloween and writing out enormously sized checks. Cy the way, are you taken? ::: bats eyelashes ::: Besides, I think your layout is excellent. ::: more batting :::

*Phase42 – I think I knew a lot about you even before I ventured on your site. I remember you writing a Pit thread (right?) about people mangling how you choose to spell your name. As someone who goes by Kemi, I can certainly feel your pain. And I remembered you were a musician. However, I’m not sure if I was up on the situation surrounding the 14+ years. I believe so, but I’m not certain. Which is probably a good thing, or otherwise you’d think I was a stalker. Ok, I’ll stop now.
Addendum for those folks who’ve emailed and the ones I should’ve explained better to: My blog is (as I’m sure anyone is just shocked, shocked I tell you, to find out) about mental illness and the struggles it causes. Only from my humble perspective. Hope that warns people off that aren’t the least bit interested or find the subject matter too depressing (haha) or graphic. For the lot of you that doesn’t find that overwhelmingly daunting (like the lenth of my posts), then please stop by. This loony toon would love to have you.

Thanks to everyone for participating. You guys have been terrific!

And here I’ve been thinking about how I need more content on my page. Thanks for taking a look and passing along the kind words.

Had a few minutes, so I took a look at your blog. That’s a great drawing up there. I recommend sending that out on the front of your Christmas card. Good times. Though your host really clutters up the page with the ads. If you’ve got a few bucks lying around, you might consider getting your own domain. Easier on your audience’s eyes, if you know what I mean.

Keep at it.

Actually, the Pit thread was about people calling me “Ricky”. It was a Doper in that thread who started poking fun at the spelling :frowning: I meant to post a thread here about getting my license back, but I spaced it off. Unfortunately, my car died today. I think (hope) it’s just the alternator or the battery.

I actually wouldn’t mind a stalker. Might make me feel less depressed about the complete lack of interest women seem to have in me (um, you are a woman, right?)

I love these threads! Mine’s at LiveJournal, currently titled The Earl of Suffolk’s Bitchin’ Emporium of Awesome. (That is, I mostly go on about Shakespeare, theater, and sometimes various other teevee or print media. Along with the I-hope-this-is-funny-to-someone everyday-anecdote retellings, and recently pictures and stories from my travels in Europe and the UK, where I’m now studying.)

My blog is pretty boring. It’s mostly a book list plus insane cooking. It’s here.

Gladsheim.

It’s pretty journal-y when I update and is full of “I did this and this and then blah and blah and blah” entries that’re generally prefaced by random music uploads.

A cooking blog, updated less than it should be - 5 Recipes a Week

Susan

We showed you ours…

Yours?

Still trying to catch up on all these really cool blogs. Hang with me guys and I’ll give the proper kudos on what I’ve seen recently. Here goes…

*Tracy Lord – Ok, I love your layout with the South Park characters gone all medieval on our collective asses. And pink is a not-so-guilty pleasure of mine too, that it makes me just wanna go hug a flamingo.

*Lissla Lissar – I noticed that your archive goes back to well over a year. That’s quite impressive and, mine in its infancy, makes me wonder if I can ever have that kind of commitment. But since I’ve got you here, I’ve always wanted to ask you what your names means, especially since I always want to pronounce it as Lisa something.

*Aesiron – Two questions; what in the world does “gladsheim” mean? And yes, I know I could Google it up, but I’d rather hear it in context of what you have in mind for its usage. Secondly, is that a picture of you in the upper right hand corner? 'Cause if so, dude you are hot.

*susan_foster – More pink! ::: squee ::: Not only does all that look delicious and make me hungry, but it almost makes me wish I knew how to cook. But since I have no desire to ever execute death by food on someone (well, for the most part), I better leave it to the experts. I’ll probably be following along though, and drooling.

To the rest of my lovely commentators, Not A Tame Lion thanks for the suggestions (especially over Christmas card decisions :stuck_out_tongue: ), but for the moment, I feel bound to stay where I’m at simply because I’m actually keeping up with it. I’ve got a friend there too, so I’m hooked. It may only be one, but I desperately desire to hoard him. Phase42, indeed I’m female. If you have an application for me, I’d be more than happy to document my stalker history.

Finally saving the best for last, here’s my silly little effort. Like I mumbled above, be forewarned. It’s mostly about my daily (sometimes boring, other times insane – hehe, I slay me) struggle with mental illness. Told ya. Oh, and for any of the brave souls who weather the storm, please leave a message if you’re so inclined. I’d love to hear from you and I need to know where to PayPal the money for any ringing endorsements.

Thanks every one for participating. They’re all great and have been a blast to see more of the ‘other’ side of Dopers’ lives.

You’re welcome. Do what you feel. I only suggested looking somewhere else because your host clutters up your page so much. But no big deal.

And I’d really reconsider using that drawing for your Christmas card. Stick a Santa cap on her dome, put a reindeer in the background…glorious. I know I’ve sent worse. And after all, you definitely “know the funny.” That header on the OCD post–that’s comedy gold, if viewed in the right light. Which, let’s face it, you may not be able to…

But hey, I don’t like any light in my bedroom either. You’re not that far off.

Bon appetit.

It’s from the Robin McKinley novel Deerskin, which is a retelling of the fairytale Donkeyskin. The main character’s name was Lissla Lissar. I’m a bit of a Robin McKinley fanatic.

I pronounce it with short 'i’s- ‘Liss-la Liss-ar’, but I don’t know if it’s correct or not. I’m always surprised when someone recognises it.

I started blogging a year and a half ago or so. I think. Yes, that’s right, according to the entry dates. I don’t really have much to say that’s important, but I only work part-time, and I’m verbose. It divides up into ‘stuff about books’, ‘stuff about cooking’, and ‘general theology’. It’s the only diary I’ve ever managed to keep up with doing.

Interesting timing for me this thread, given that i finally got around to setting mine up again since moving back from the states (now that i can commit the time to updating it regularly again).

John Bull: London Calling is here, for anyone interested in a wide variety of random gumpf.
