Good. That’s what I came here to add.
The SciFi channel used to show it, way back in its early days.
I knew my list would never be duplicated in a million years:
Banacek
Blacke’s Magic
Ellery Queen
Scene of the Crime (the one hosted by Orson Welles, thank you)
You get the idea.
No other Tremors fans? Come on it was good gory monster-of-the-week fair and usually funny with it. (and worth it just for Bert).
I still hold out hope the series will make DVD over here.
“E-Z Streets”. Nothing else like it on tv. The show didn’t really make a lot of sense, but it had not just one, but several of the most extraordinary sequences I’ve seen on network tv. I missed the first part, so I never did figure out who the hell Frenchie was.
“Day Break”. According to the producers, twelve episodes that were filmed (of which about five were aired) form a complete story, so I’m looking forward to seeing it on DVD.
ETA: Agreed, “Tremors” was fun. Never a dull moment in Perfection, NV. And there was the smokin’ hot Gladys Jimenez, who was strong enough and brave enough to spurn the brassiere that an oppressive culture wanted to force on her.
I almost forgot about The Misfits of Science.
Bosom Buddies. A show with that cast only lasts TWO YEARS?
I was hooked when they did a clip show for their second episode.
Another vote for Third Watch, here. At least it ended before it went bad, but I think they could have got another few good seasons out of it.
chalk up another one, idlewild.
i didn’t know dresden files had been cancelled!
bummer, man… i liked that show.
most of the sci fi channel stuff is pretty lame, but that one was definitely watchable.
Picket Fences
Square Pegs (although IIRC the writing went downhill rather quickly)
Tales of the Gold Monkey
Jack of All Trades
From way back in the stone age, the was a superb show called “The Rogues” that I still remember fondly. It had Charles Boyer, David Niven, and Gig Young (generally in rotation, a la Maverick) as good con men conning bad con men.
I really liked Mann & Machine.
Though much of the appeal for me was seeing how the writers were messing with the Mann’s mind - what with the persistent bits where he ‘dreamed’ his dog was talking to him…
Any of you older types remember an early 80’s sitcom called “Buffalo Bill?” It starred Dabney Coleman with Joanna Cassady and a very young and hot Geena Davis. It was a brilliant comedy that only lasted two seasons.
I wish they made more than one season of Dark Angel.
A conspiracy existing since Babylonian times? :dubious:
So it’s simultaneously a series that lasted too short and too long at the same time.
Oh, and I third Gargoyles.
Excellent writing–witty dialog. Interesting characters–played by interesting actors–whose growth we would have enjoyed following for a couple more years. And settings that were somewhat simple but could have been as complex as the budget allowed. (Most of the terraformed planets/moons looked a lot like Southern California. But there were some rich & sophisticated planets in that little corner of the galaxy.)
I discovered Buffy & Angel late in life. And, of course, missed Firefly during its run on Fox. Which was easy–since the network showed episodes out of order, kept screwing with the schedule, & didn’t even show all 14 shows that were made. (Even after release of the DVD’s–there’s less than a full season.)
Check it out.
And Kaylee. Cute Kaylee. Everyone agrees that Kaylee was cute.
Forever Knight
The Lone Gunmen
Sports Night

There, I said it.
You may fire at will.
Not me I was a big fan. It was quirky enough for my tastes.
