Old Tonight shows with Johnny Carson.
Ed.
A sweet, offbeat little dramedy with a great cast - Tom Cavanagh, Julie Bowen, Michael Ian Black, Justin Long, Ginnifer Goodwin, et al. The quirk was laid on a little thick sometimes, but I liked it, and I miss it.
I’m surprised at some of these, b/c I’ve seen them recently, and some are on TV currently.
The Larry Sanders show has been showing, uncut, on Comcast On Demand on the TubeTime channel for the last couple of years.
LOGO showed Wonderfalls in its entirety, including the un-aired episodes with Jewel Staite, for a couple of years. I don’t get that channel anymore, so I’m not sure if they still do.
Perry Mason has been on WGN (available on every cable package I’ve ever had) at Noon for about twenty years now.
Monty Python’s Flying Circus is currently being shown every night on the IFC channel.
The Smothers Brothers Show. Not their hour-long variety show, but the sitcom that aired from 1965-1966. Dick was a young publishing executive and Tom was a sailor who was lost at sea and presumed drowned. Now an apprentice angel, Tom has to help his brother Dick to lead a good life so he can become a full-fledged angel.
Well, unlike a lot of other 90’s Nickelodeon shows, at least some of this is available on DVD.
But seriously, when did Nick get rid of their “second” channel that, from what I saw, only showed their greats from the 90’s? Noggin, I think it wa called?
It’s probably been reduced to airing more Spongebob…blech. That was the beginning of the downfall of Nickelodeon.
Another vote for Star Trek: DS9
And I would add:
Murphy Brown
Mary Tyler Moore
What was that show on Nickelodeon where the kids would have to go to a cave, dressed in robes, and run through a tiny maze to get to a place?
Ally McBeal (am I really the only one??)
Another vote for McMillan and Wife and NYPD Blue
Beakman’s World
Hmm? Finders Keepers? Legends of the Hidden Temple? Nick Arcade? I don’t know?
Does anyone know where I can get plans for that revolving bookcase/bar combination?
Tales of the Gold Monkey. Thankfully, it’s coming out on DVD.
A Canadian show most of you have never heard of called Wojeck, which starred John Vernon as a coroner trying to make a difference (the idea was later recycled in the US and became Quincy). There were only 20 episodes, anyway; one would think CBC would release it on DVD.
Two episodes on WGN every Sunday night at 8/7. They also run two more around midnight or so. I DVR them every week. They’re currently around Season 5.
You must be close to my age because I adore most of these shows. I’m not a big fan of the Disney ones, but definitely the Nickelodeon ones. I’d go farther back and add the ones they used to show like:
Noozles
Maya the Bee
Lil’ Bits
David the Gnome
Grimm’s Fairy Tales
Clarissa Explains it All
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
etc
Nick needs to come out with a retro channel.
You’d be surprised how many of these shows can be found on youtube, especially some of the old Nickelodeon shows.
The Wonder Years should have it’s own channel and constantly be running. I’m glad I have about 8 VHS tapes full of episodes.
Punky brewster!!!
The Garry Shandling Show
Ed. Glad to see someone else remembers it as fondly as I do. What a charming, classy entertaining show built around a very interesting premise.
I’ll also re-nominate Northern Exposure.
It might not be the full run, but there are episodes of these on hulu.
Thirding The Wonder Years.
Nash Bridges. Pretty much everything else I can find on DVD on Netflix or online.
