I like reading Sam’s threads they are always interesting and funny but I don’t read every one of them because after about the second one they all start reading the same. Meeh, no skin off my nose if he keeps up at the same rate but it wouldn’t be a bad thing if he posted a couple less.
fwiw, I always love reading what Siam Sam has to say.
I like Sam’s threads. I find them informative, and interesting, and as others have said, he comes back to play in them, himself. And he doesn’t get huffy with people doing the snark on his OPs, which helps them continue to be fun.
So I hope Sam keeps on as he has been. There have been one or two topics I’ve felt he got a little over-enthusiastic about, but I’m not without blame there, myself.
I’m all in favour of Siam Sam posting as before. The topics are generally interesting and informative, and it’s what MPSIMS is for. If anyone doesn’t like reading this much on a single topic, don’t read the threads.
I’m with the leave him alone crowd.
AFAIC Siam Sam, you’re good to go. Keep doing what you’re doing and keeping those who are interested up to speed with the interesting things that are happening in your part of the world.
I really like them too, and feel Asia should be more represented on the board. I’ve spent a lot of time in the region, so perhaps I have a bias, but isn’t that part of the point? More and more westerners have spent time in the region and ARE interested in the goings on there.
I say have at it, I have participated in many of your threads and enjoy reading them and hope this lame pitting won’t change you habits not even one little bit.
I seriously enjoy Sam’s bulletins from Asia, and I’d be very unhappy to see him quit doing them. Where else am I gonna hear about it? Drudge, Fox, CNN.com et al, even the Beeb, sure don’t carry it; should I have to hang out at Reuters or something? Blessedly, Sam cherrypicks it for me, and I truly appreciate that.
Plus, they’re never boring or pointless. He never wastes my time; to open a Siam Sam “News From The World Of Asia” thread is to enter a strange new world, which is refreshing after the non-stop Obamayaddayadda that goes on everywhere else these days.
I added his Thai Tourist Police website to my Favorites, yanno. Every so often I just go over there and hang out for a while. It’s…soothing, somehow.
So, far from “dialing it back a notch”, keep it up, Sam, say I!
And to the OP: can’t you find somebody else to pick on? It is an election year, after all. Plus all around us are evildoers torturing puppies and stealing from orphans–Pit one of them, eh? Sheesh. :rolleyes:

Thanks to all of my supporters. But actually, I think neutron star has a point. As it turns out I have been starting to get a little worried that I may be getting annoying, but you know how it is. Sit here in the morning with my coffee and start rambling around the Net and something interesting pops up, and especially if it’s something I have personal experience with, such as Tibetan underage male prostitutes, er, I mean, Thai cuisine or Angkor Wat, then I toss it in. But obviously given the population of the Board, if I’m chapping one person enough to pit me (my first pit, yay!), then I must be chapping at least some others too, and that’s never been my intention. I’ll tell you what, I promise at least to try to make it more varied.
It’s up to you, but I think the fact that responses in this thread are about 6:1 in favor of you continuing to do what you’re doing means the grousers aren’t even a large minority…

I’m more alarmed at the rate the members of the SDMB are eating their own than the posting rate of any particular poster.
I’m also concerned that TPTB have alienated so many members that I can only come to the conclusion that they just want to run it into the ground because it’s not a “profit center”, regardless of the fact that newspapers are the buggy whips of the 21st Century, anyway.
Look Sam, I happen to find “American Idol” excruciatingly annoying but evidently millions of people love it. So I don’t watch it. I’ll bitch about it once in a while, though, if someone here at home happens to be watching it. It doesn’t make me right, it makes me snotty.
Keep doing what you feel like doing.
I’d prefer that posters from other countries started more threads about, y’know, the rest of the world than that Sam scale back. If you’re not interested in his threads, do what I do with every single sports or video game thread and don’t open them.
And again with this. You people want more variety in thread topics? Write them yourselves.
I’m glad he posts as much as he does. I remember back when the boards were free that most subforums had their threads with new posts occupy two pages. An now we pit people because they post too much? What’s next? Pit them because they only post in one or two forums?
