I’m amused at the idea of anyone bringing down the quality of MPSIMS postings.
I like Sam’s theads. I’d take 10 of his threads over another stupid flirt or pet anecdote/picture thread any day. It’s rare that I both learn stuff and am entertained by a MPSIMS thread, but his almost always manage to do that.

Keep it up Sam. I like Thai info because one of my coworkers is Thai fanatic, and it’s awesome when I know something he doesn’t about the place.
Plus, if I ever get tired of them, I have this superhuman ability that apparently is extremely rare on this board: I can simply not read them. I hear this is a power one of the new characters on ‘Heroes’ will have this season.

I also usually open and read every one of Siam Sam’s posts, because I like to read news from the other side of the world. I hope you don’t cut back, Sam.

I like Sam’s posts. And Anaamika, if you want to post about India, please do. I’m not likely to ever get to visit either place (heck, I’ll be lucky if I ever get to go anywhere outside the US besides Canada!) and I like reading posts from and about other countries.

It’s a valid opinion to say that one would appreciate more variety from a poster. Doesn’t mean he should post less about Thailand, but I know I personally would love to see other sides of his personality, not just see his name as the OP and automatically anticipate another factoid of the week about how stupid farangs can be, or the latest sex story, as interesting as they are (and they seriously are).

IMO people appreciate knowing what other people think about them. Sam is by no means obliged to care or change in any way, but humans being social animals it’s in our nature to at least be interested in the opinions of those around us.
Perhaps you disagree. Still, you’re the one making a federal case about this.
He posts about other stuff all the time. He just doesn’t start many OPs about other stuff… and so what? I mean, I probably post as wide a variety of OPs as anyone on the Board, and probably 75% of them die within a page. By an objective measure, Sam is winning!

So what? So I find it slightly annoying. Anyone who thinks that reflects poorly on me can fuck off sideways. Just because Sam is a well-liked, nice, respected member of the dope shouldn’t mean one can’t have a personal and subjective opinion about him that is even slightly negative, the key here being personal and subjective.
I guess I can post slightly from experience. I had a period where I posted lots of banal and TMI things (still do but I like to think I’m better). Anyway, in the end I valued people’s input, instead of saying “well you can ignore my threads and what the fuck do YOU care huh jerk?” To his credit, Sam has been marvelously tactfulin this thread, and in my situation I was annoying the majority instead of educating and entertaining. If Sam was starting twenty threads a week about his drywall, then people might chant a different tune. But, that’s neither here nor there.
I’m probably just being overly defensive now, but I sense an unfair, cliquey, knobslobbering pile-on brewing in the background and it’s pissing me off. I see the clouds of black and white forming, where all opinion and middle ground is null and void. Fuck that, and fuck me for making a mountain out of a molehill.
