I’m going to go to an upscale Korean barbecue joint in Santa Clara on Wednesday, March 19. Mr. brown doesn’t care for Korean barbecue and my usual ethnic foodie friend here from work can’t tolerate spicy food. Well, the heck with them. I’m not doing without tabletop Korean grilling for their sakes!
So I’m going solo on 3/19. Unless, however, anyone else here feels like joining me. Korean tabletop barbecuing is kind of a social event. I’m happy to do it by myself, but I’d also be happy if anyone here is interested.
The place is called “Becue” (as in “Bar-becue”, get it?), and it’s at 3060 El Camino Real, Santa Clara. 408-260-2727. It’s a little tricky to find, as it’s at the very back of a nondescript strip mall. It’s more upscale than the surrounding Korean joints, and correspondingly a little more expensive. I’ve eaten there before - the lady cooking for the place is an absolute artist with “ban chan”, the little side dishes of spicy Korean pickles, and the barbecue is to die for.
I’ll be there 5:45-ish; if any of y’all want to go, too, I’ll be the only non-Korean woman in the joint!
ETA: And here’s a review from the San Jose Mercury News FYI. I hope one doesn’t have to register to view it.
