Well I always read that to open links in the background, you should hold down CTRL, or CTRL Shift (I never remember which).
Just now, I pressed down on the scroll wheel, just to see what it did. Lo and behold, it opened the tab in the background.

I didn’t know that, either! Now I’ll be clicking away all night… Neat tip.
I’ve never done the CTRL-Shift function and have been using the wheel click since day one. Makes surfing the SDMB so much easier and faster.
you can also click tabs with the scroll wheel to close them. fyi
Anyone have problems opening PDF files in the FF browser? Mine crashes when I close the PDF.
